A person "cases" a house under construction in a neighborhood he's readily identifiable in just so he can potentially rob it seven or eight months later, assuming it's not being built as a McMansion for sale and already has occupants who will immediately move in with valuable items because if it doesn't, it'll sit empty on the market for another several months waiting for a sale. And that person will have the layout of the building all sketched out on paper, just waiting for the stars to align.

Yes.

People do case places in advance. one night long ago I rode around with a thief for about four hours drinking beer and smoking as he explained the hows and whys as he pointed out the houses he was casing.

He had a working list in his head from ready to I like the looks of that one. As best as i remember there was eight to ten of them in three well off neighborhoods.

Kind of freaked me out. This fucker put alot of work and time into scoping things out!

He knew how many and the names of all the people that lived in each house, if the y had alarm systems, dogs, what routine they followed the whole nine yards!

He pointed out who was at work,who was out partying...knew what time they would be home and when they were taking vacation. IN most cases he knew what he was going to steal,when he was going to steal it.

He even had a Girlfriend in the area for sex and finding out information, claimed she didn't know anything about what he did.

Her house was naturally on the list.

He called Casing the places Prospecting and I guess it was.
