What do you call an aircraft carrier captain concerned for the safety of his crew?

I disagree. You are expendable if you join the military. Although I can admire his ethics, they have no place in the military. If I say, charge up that hill...knowing 99 out of 100 will die, you will charge up that hill...because that is what you signed up for. He was 100% wrong in what he did. I dont give a fuck if his entire ship is exposed, which it is, and many of they die. They are not civilians.

This.

Navy Secretary: Other ships may be on higher alert due to captain’s leaked memo

Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly said Friday other United States Navy ships in the Pacific may now be on higher alert due to the ex-commander of the USS Theodore Roosevelt’s leaked memo describing a coronavirus outbreak on the ship.

Adversaries may be looking to take advantage of the knowledge that one of the U.S.’s warships in the region may be crippled, he said in an interview with Hugh Hewitt.

"My responsibilities extend beyond just that individual officer. And they go to the safety of that crew, our national security objectives, all the other ships that are out there in the Pacific that are now perhaps on higher standard of alert because our adversaries in the region think that one of our warships might be crippled, which it’s not,” he said.

“But that sows seeds of doubt. I mean, as I said, loose lips sink ships, and that’s what happens. And this officer should have known better,” he added.

Soldiers and sailors who are alive.

Is secondary to maintaining order and command structure in the military.

If you haven't accepted your life and those under your command as secondary to the mission, you fucked up by joining the military and if you can't deal then you need to be gone.

Holy shit, it seems Dribble grasps the concept of what it is to soldier.

I simply cannot believe that we agree on something, anything...,

I was pretty shocked myself.

Doesn't matter. You want benefits for life? They come w a price. The military is not the National Guard.

Also his regular overt displays of hatred toward the very concepts of any individual liberty of any kind, civil rights, capitalism and having any control over who/what comes into the USA.

Also considers military veterans to be welfare mooches for receiving their earned benefits.

Claims to be patriotic.

it was the correct punishment.

Is he the only one being punished? Again, what did he do within channels from the beginning? What was the response down from those channels? Arguably more punishment up the line might be appropriate. Letting the virus just spread on an aircraft carrier is NOT the proper answer to the issue.

I admire what he did. He can sleep well at night. But it came w a price, and it was the correct punishment.

Vietnam finally did what they couldn't accomplish in the 1960s: take out an aircraft carrier.

Who the hell thought Da Nang, Vietnam was an acceptable port of call?

The first 15 cases were contracted on shore leave there.

Did you read how it spread in the ship? They had cots in the gym for quick naps between ships. Everyone who slept in one of those cots got the virus.

Honestly, Que, can't you at least have the decency to address us under this alt,
whenever you post these propaganda links in response to our comments?

I personally find your attitude to be offensive.

Shaddup, Luk.

Que, miles, I don't care who's behind that alt.

And it's not the Right-leaning or RW stuff he posts that bothers me (well, but for the anti-vaxxer propaganda last week). Freedom of speech and all.

But I get personally offended that he doesn't bother to address any of my or others' posts directed at him. The only thing he does, is post more links to right-leaning sites.

according to The Rotting Pumpkin in a President Suit-

"Hero on ship make me look bad. This is Bad. Bad."
"Fire him, or I will have a new Secretary of Navy, tomorrow!'
"You are only a temp, and I have dirt on everyone, Modly."
"Despite the fact that the dirt is not real, I have photographs from Russia."

*twitch*

*eye tic*

*lip cramp*

*involuntary tongue poke*

I agree. But you never go public...not on an active ship. He was simply removed from command, not court martialed. It was a fair punishment. He doesnt lose pension.

In the Navy release, his superior officer was on board. Left unsaid was that that officer was taking the same risks as the sailors. There was active communication going on through proper channels about the problem. Captain didn't think evacuations were going to be fast enough.

He did, because the administration is so corrupt and incompetent that he had no other choice and to still be human. He pulled rank on that disgusting clown Trump and his people told the world he was right. A commander-in-chief who is as corrupt and incompetent as Trump is has lost his/her authority. That's what the sailors of the aircraft carrier told Trump--he's defunct.

Whether or not the ship's captain is punished, those up the line who didn't step in to respond quickly to the problem need to be publicly punished as well. Otherwise they've lost their authority over their sailors--which was demonstrated for them on film when the captain left the vessel.
