Why have Republicans stopped bragging about the stock market?

Prediction for Monday 3/16: 1000 point drop at close.

2000 to 2400 drop is my prediction. At least two circuit breakers. Greater than fifty percent chance trading completely halted before end of day.

Friendly reminder ...

The Dow closed at 19,827.25 on Inauguration Day, Jan. 20, 2017

And I was worried all winter that cashing out in 2018 was too early.

Then COVID-19 came along and is setting up what might turn out to be the greatest re-investment opportunity of my lifetime.

I think I'm getting a chubby......:D

The FEDS just made a monumental error lowering interest rates to zero. Shutting down computer trading would have been a better move. People need to trade not computers right now. Trading should shut down at 10: AM est

So you want to shut down the market to more than half the country's population before they even get to work because we have shitty leadership? That is dumb.

I wonder which of the Right Wing nutjobs here will be the first to retconn their portfolio ("Ah been sittin' on cash for a while now").

Remember back on President Obama's inauguration day in 2009 when AJ announced he'd liquidated his portfolio and was 100% invested in gold?

...only to admit years later that that was only "investment advice" he'd given, he'd actually stayed in the stock market and made enough money to "retire" on?

No! you're dumb. If it's gone through two circuit breakers and the stock exchanges won't close electronic trading then yes shut it down. Algorithms don't have feeling, as stocks go lower the lower they can go. Putting a pause could allow people to control buying and selling and putting a human face behind puts and calls and are more capable of reasoning the real value of a stock better than a machine.
