The real question is, what is the actual cost of the test, not what the USA is charging. I suspect by the time it's sampled and lab tested, its only a couple hundred bucks tops. No profiteering going in the US.
(Note I have not personally verified any of the above values for accuracy...)
This is a difficult question to answer. The test being used is a real time pcr...it runs around $100 per sample. But this is an infectious agent. I can see that cost.
Now the real question, is wtf do we not have a blot test that looks for antibodies? A $2 test tops? Because we have morons making decisions
