How do you unwind Socialism?

If the majority of people in a country decide to experiment with Socialism, because of the promises of being safe and well cared for by the government, what happens when the promises fail?

Socialist governments disarm the people by claiming that they are the only ones that should have weapons for the public good. So how does an unarmed group of people, like those in North Korea or any other Socialistic hell hole, get the tyrants off their back?

Any historic examples of it being a nice transition of power without suffering and bloodshed?

Maybe you love the idea of Socialism. But if on the outside chance it leads to tyranny like it eventually always does, what would you do to unwind it?

It ALWAYS ends the same way. The leaders get overthrown, the new leaders are just as corrupt, and eventually the people rebel and a lot of innocents die.

Do you like Social Security?

Do you think education should be affordable and actually educate?

Do you think health care should be affordable? I mean...you do realize, you pay for those not covered.

Do you believe veterans should get benefits for life?

All 4 are what normal people define as socialism. No American is touting true socialism, where the Govt owns everything. But keep believing your lies.

How does that answer the question?

The question was: "How do you unwind Socialism?" So you like the government involved with educating your kids. I don't. But that is a totally different topic. My question is what are people going to do if their socialistic dream turns into the same old nightmare? How do your comments answer that question? When people ALWAYS dodge the question it makes me wonder if they know the answer is very dark.

Because what Democrats are seeking is not socialism...no matter how you want to twist it. You call it socialism. Yet you love it. Why else do we still have Obamacare? You had control of both Houses of Congress and the President. Yet you did nothing.

Man, I wish I could frame this post and sticky it at the top of the thread. Because I get so sick of arguing with the trolls on here about this kind of thing. The only thing I find fault with here is, "normal" people do not define these things as socialism, only the extremists, but sadly, the extremist voices have now drowned out everyone else and are now calling these things "Socialism' whereas, prior to the rise of the modern Right (starting with the Tea Party 10 years back) nobody considered them as such.

And now, there are a few people from the radical LEFT who really are wanting the government to take over private buisnesses, utilities, and such, which is almost as bad as the radical right mislabeling normal mainstream government operations as socialism.

Social Security isn't Socialism, it's a Ponzi scheme. The worst part about it is that those who reap the least benefits get hit the hardest paying into the scheme.

The federal governments involvement in education hasn't yielded any significant results and it can be argued that NO positive results have been achieved.

It can also be argued that the governments involvement in health care has actually increased the costs. ShuckNJiveCare worked so well, didn't it?

First of all not all veterans get benefits for life. But what benefits they do get are as a result of a contract entered into between the veteran and the government. Do you believe that retired GM employee's should get benefits for life?

We pay 19,000 dollars for health insurance a year for my husband and 2 sons with huge deductibles - about double what we were paying for a policy with low deductibles. The great affordable plan we had didn't meet the criteria the government said a person had to have to be considered insured. It more than met our needs. Then you have to add the cost of the insurance I buy through work. Thanks government!:(

Having fun yet?

I pay zero dollars for health insurance, just a little north of the border.

Well we do pay but with our taxes. But we don’t have deductibles, doctor or hospital bills.
Also, higher education can be 1/4 the price compared to the US.
Day care is $7 a day. No having to weigh the benefits of a woman returning to work. If the day care is more expensive than ones pay check

Maternity leave, can be a up to a year off or more. Do you really want to send your newborn off to daycare at 10 weeks old?
Family leave.
Vacation time, way more than in the States.

There are benefits.

I call bullshit.

This is called math. I cover 4 people, 2 adults and 2 children, for just over $500 a month. This includes dental and vision...and even has a few other things tossed in. 500 times 12...sure doesnt seem like 19k to me

I hear ya.....
Us folks on the independent market, aka; small business, got screwed.

"If you like your healthcare plan, you can keep your healthcare plan......period".
He flat out fucking lied.
Our provider left the state.

"Insurance premiums for the average family will drop $2500"
Pure bullshit.
Ours more than doubled....almost tripled.

"Deductibles will go down."
More bullshit. Going from $1800 (combined for two of us) to almost $10,000 is not down.

Lies, and damn lies. His and democrats bullshit law, has cost me & my wife, and our business's 10's of 1000's of dollars since it passed.
And we aren't the only ones.

government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That is correct, in taxes, spread across all tax payers. But I don't pay both taxes and a health insurance premium to an insurance company.

But you do...

You sure pay a lot more taxes than we do.

We don't have a GST, or a PST. And our income tax is not as high as yours.
You are paying for it.

And what we paid to an insurance company, sure as hell was a lot less, before our government got involved, and shoved Obamacare down our throats.

Bet our net, pre-obamacare, was a lot lower than yours. I have worked for 4 different Canadian companies, so I do have a clue.

Yes, to be young and healthy in Canada is great. But tell me, what's the average wait for a MRI these days? And why does the US have the best cancer survival rates?

Is that through work or on your own? Does any of your family members have serious medical conditions? You can say bull, but I get to continue to pay!

Friend of mine finally got in to see the doc (in Burlington) and it turned out he needed bypass surgery. They put him on nitro pills. A year later, he was still on nitro pills....and miserable besides.
I told him don't fall down around me....you may blow up.
Over a year later, he got his surgery.

Another friend of mine, Regina, his wife finally got i to see the doc. That doc, refereed her to a specialist. Several months later, she got scheduled for a CT scan.
Cancer.
Almost 6 months later, she finally went on chemo.
He's a widower now. She went better than a year to get the treatment she needed....right then & now, and by that time, her cancer metastasized.
