The Handcuff Knot

A Caution: Do not try this alone. Be sure to have a pair of EMT scissors handy in case something goes wrong. This is just for fun. If you are truly interested Google "The Duchy" and "Two Knotty Boys" for superior instructions on interesting knots

First, wrap the rope around your hand or, in my case three fingers:

Make three to six turns around your fingers. I have used three to keep it simple and because the 3/8" sash cord I am using is fairly heavy:

The two bitter ends (that means the free ends) should both be on the palm side of your hand, heading in opposite directions:

Take one end and fold it into an open loop (called a bight) and pull it under the wraps, pulling it through:

First, grab your bight (loop) which will be your working end and rap it around your column (one wrist, one ankle, one thigh, etc. in my case, it is around my hand for the tutorial it’s easier with two hands free and a partner, but isn’t everything?) two times like this:

Make sure you’re laying your lines flat and smooth.
Next take your bight and cross it under the tie. Be sure to hold tension on the tie (I’m doing it with my thumb here)

Next, take the loose end (not the bight/working end) and spin it. Pull the bight through the spin.

Pull tight and you’re done! This is a great way to start many, more intricate ties. You can “lock” the tie by pulling the loose end through the bight and even use it for suspension.

Oh, and it’s important to keep your ties as flat against the skin as possible. This helps keep your bottom’s (that’s the one being tied, not your ass perv ) safe and free from inadvertent harm.

That was one of the first knots I learned at my first boating job.
(The captain called it "Chinese" Handcuffs)
But when I learned it, we only did one round turn.

Any time I have a spark chunk of line, I will absent mindedly tie it and pull it loose.

It is cool how the knot can hold so long as there is something in the nights, but without that it simply slips apart.
