Because really, the House cannot impeach a president based on testimony of an anonymous source.

The Constitution is crystal clear that all it takes for the House to impeach is a simple majority vote doing so, no matter any circumstances preceding that.

The framers, during Constitutional Convention debating, and ratifiers, during State ratifying conventions, are also crystal clear about the House having absolute constitutional power to impeach a President whatever the cause(s) it feels is appropriate - what are known as "Misdemeanors". To be crystal clear: the House can impeach a President for whatever reason it deems, and that decision is uncontestable. PERIOD. I.e, the Supreme Court has no constitutional power AT ALL to decide whether the House's reason(s) for impeachment are justified or not.

That being established, though, Democratic House members can investigate all they want, Democrat House members can accuse all they want, Democratic House members can create charges of impeachment all they want, but until the House votes on actual charges of impeachment, it's nothing but partisan pre-cum.

Perhaps while you were on vacation, Trump himself said the whistleblower and everyone who leaked to the whistleblower should be treated the way spies used to be treated when they are identified. The cult followers took Trump's cue. Now the whistleblowers attorneys are concerned about the threats of what is going to happen to their client if his or her identity is revealed.
