Evening...looks like some weekend visitors...

I've been to a commemoration for Polish Parachute Brigades dropping into Arnhem from Leicestershire, packed a friend off for her first marathon at stoopid o'clock, cycled 51 hilly miles, watched the lanc almost take the roof off the clubhouse where we finished our ride and am now about to send the Monkey out into the rain to barbeque steak...but apart from that, not much...:D

The only German I've ever spoken was at an Octoberfest...but Miss Dee forgives me for that...

Sounds a full on day, that bike keeps getting a ride out, am about to settle in a new one in this bike to work scheme thing, about time I got disc brakes given the rims I seem to wear out!

And talking of cycling... check out UCI World Road Racing championships in Yorkshire this week! One race starts only 400 yards from one of our offices... might get some work done but will have to cycle in as all roads closed, but the towns are expected to be heaving and they one race essentially does the Grand Depart of Le Tour 2014! Bring back Cote de Buttertubs!!

i was in lahn-dun in the sunshine. went down to twickenham. back in cambs. now. ;)

I am all over Cambridgeshire with work this week . . . well, not all over, but drifting between March, Chatteris and that ominous shithole that Peterborough has become, if you are out and about Fenland giz us a shout, we might shoot breeze over a pint or two at the Dog in the Doublet.

Sadly I too only have schoolboy German and my school days were a long time ago... we could always switch to Google translate!

You should hear my schoolgirl French... utterly disgraceful! Last time we were in France, while talking to the receptionist, I cobbled my sentences together, thought I did pretty well and was a bit proud of myself.... then Mr Dee came down the stairs, said the same thing in English, and suddenly the sun came out, smiles appeared on faces, children were singing.... well there weren’t any children, but you know what I mean. They all whipped a 180 and nearly fell over themselves being helpful. This was in Normandy, I’m sure ancestral grudges came out when they heard my German accent.

I don't think it will be long before the English accent on an obviously English person will be viewed in a similar manner, some of the looks I got in French shops this summer... :-(
