I'm trying to decide which Hitchcock film universe I'd rather be transported to. Maybe Rebecca or To Catch a Thief.

Rear Window.

Voyeurism and Grace Kelly?

Not even a question.

If we can pick and choose I'd rather be Cary Grant in Rear Window but that didn't really cast that way. Besides I do a much better Jimmy Stewart impression than a Cary Grant one

I'm trying to think if I ever saw that one. I know I've seen clips but I don't know if I've only seen the clips or if I've seen the whole thing.

Back when entertainment was delivered to you on the various network schedule as they saw fit it seemed like that sort of thing you could always find late night because they didn't have to pay for it or at least pay very much. Now with 24-hours streaming content from multiple vendors I don't seem to bump into that stuff.

Not even thrifting. I think I'm going to have to hang on to a VCR or two.

I found a nice 10 of early John Wayne movies recently and I haven't gotten through those yet. His later stuff is way better but the early stuff is interesting to see him develop.

Naturally.

:D

My dad still calls me to tell me when they're playing it on cable even though I haven't paid for it in years. "I'll record it for you." The man has more VHSs than the entire Eastern seaboard probably. And half as many beta tapes.

One of the reasons that I hunt thrift stores is I'm reconstructing my entire life. For example the clock radio that I got as a child with its mono speaker and Scratchy manual tuning I just found an exact replica of. It was the radio that it finally occurred to me that I can just wander the dial and find new music that didn't necessarily coincide with whatever was playing on Mom's RCA in the kitchen.

Of the many things that I feel nostalgic about were these VHS tapes that I meticulously taped off the air each and every Saturday night where I maniacally paused out the commercials and then carefully and painstakingly lettered the names of each movie on the spine using the little stick-on letters that come with the package of VHS tapes.

These were all black and white movies from a series they had on Channel 5 called Hollywood greats. Actually enjoyed when I ran across those tapes at one point seeing the little blips of commercials where I didn't quite catch it in time. No doubt your dad will end up leaving those to you I'll be happy to take tgem off your hands if you're looking to have them lovingly hoarded.

I was just explaining to someone last night what an instamatic 110 cartridge camera is...because I just found an exact replica of the one that I took to the Grand Canyon when I weighed 54 lb and my pack weight 26, and weight was at a premium.

Dear storm,

Thank you for cooling it down. Please do not knock out the power of cause shit to fall on my house.

Love,
Pete

The heat finally broke for a bit here in old second city and I got to test granola recipes. God, my life is so fascinating.

Oh! And I finished binging three seasons of Veronica Mars and am started on the new season.

Field of Dreams is a weird movie.

The weirdest part to me was that right in the middle of a movie that is otherwise a love letter to Iowa, there's a long section portraying the average Iowan as a book-banning wackjob.

If you buy into its (pun intended) corniness, it works. But I haven't seen it since my father died, and that might not be a good idea.

Dead deer on the side of road to town yesterday. I drove past feeling bad for the driver that will spend the day talking to body shops.

Dead deer on the road had been decorated between my trip out and back. A "Happy Birthday!" balloon had been attached to the rack.

:)

People are sick.
