Why am I always treated like everything I say is a lie? I have been saying for months that I think we have a gas leak, that the oven isn’t safe. I kept being called names and criticised every single time I expressed concerns about it. Every time someone used it, I complained I smelled gas, and begged them not to light any flames/candles etc.

But of course, I’m a liar and have a hidden agenda.

Fast forward to today, and there’s a mandatory inspection set by the building owner. “You have a very dangerous gas leak coming from your cooker, it will have to be removed immediately”.

So bye bye oven, and we’re not eligible to have it replaced because my landlord kept refusing to report it, despite my insistence there was a gas leak all these months.

If you're paying rent, pay it to someone who will provide a safe place at minimum. Have you ever seen a building after a gas explosion? It's horrendous.
