The concept of wanting anyone band seems strange to me. I think a lot of things posted here and a lot of things in all aspects of life are crazy. But I don't want to live in a world where a person or group of people decides who can and can not speak. That can sound great until the pendulum swings back and shuts your mouth. We all have the power to read or not read anything we want. The power to ban and to block is already in our own minds. So, why want a third party to your banning and blocking for you?

Anybody can report anything they want, but it's not going to amount to anything unless the rules are broken. And while I don't want to speak for Laurel, I assume anybody who repeatedly reports posts on the grounds of "I just don't like this person" is going to make themselves obnoxious in a hurry.

AJ is actually proof of this: he used to cut-and-paste a lot, but he doesn't do it to nearly the same extent anymore (and keeps his quotes to the "fair use" limits) after it became clear they were cracking down on that.

Malicious thread bumping for the specific purpose of driving certain subjects off the front page is against the posted rules. That was sort of a Karen Kraft specialty; rarely done by anyone else before or since.

But if someone is constantly bumping the porn threads because they are posting porn ... I mean, that's not really off topic. I think almost all the porn thread starters are not major participants in the GB outside those threads, so they're easy enough to put on Ignore if they are really so bothersome.
