Most Americans say 'Arabic numerals' should not be taught in school, finds survey

Seventy-two per cent of Republican-supporting respondents said Arabic numerals should not be on the curriculum, compared 40 per cent of Democrats. This was despite there being no significant difference in education between the two groups.

“They answer differently even though they had equal knowledge of our numerical nomenclature,” Mr Dick said. “It means that the question is about knowledge or ignorance but [also] something else – prejudice.”

My aunt, a mathematician, posted about this. I'm surprised she wasn't angrier.

with this heat and the overgrown pastures, i've given the pup a hair cut... got most of it done and it took best part of two hours. he lay there snoring for the most part. fidgets less than H :) he looks a bit weird, though; not got his floofy head or chest done yet and he's taking a break... looks skinny (compared to how he usually looks) with a pot belly from this morning's breakfast and with an oversized head and fluffy tail.

he IS a whole lot cooler, though :cattail::cool:

Christ.

It's a beautiful morning in the garden. Flowers in bloom, new growth on my roses, birds chirping, Kitty Girl romping.

A blueberry muffin and a cup of coffee need to become part of this little Eden.

But the mosquitoes can kiss off.
