I'm not saying that you're wrong, but there is no chief of the Cherokee nation. There's a Principal Chief, who is the "leader" of the tribal council, but he doesn't issue press conferences, and he isn't like... what you would have in your head as an "Indian Chief". There actually is a Secretary of State who would do that.

Again, mine said I MIGHT be East Asian. I'm pretty sure I'm not. I mean... I don't even know how that would happen. Maybe somebody working on the railroad got mixed in or something- but if that were true, if I were, say, Japanese or Chinese (I think those places are in East Asia) in the numbers it was giving me for "maybe Asian"- somebody, somewhere, in my family would have been like, "Oh, by the way, we're Asian." I don't think anyone in my family has a reason to lie about not being Asian.

I see issues with this because like... I think I technically could run around with these test results going, "Well this explains my love for anime and video games! I'm ASIAN!"

When I am totally not. I'm just NOT.

I don't think that they're super accurate.

Many of the places that do dna testing for ancestry purposes don't, or can't, differentiate between east Asian and American native. It's a subtle difference. And they definitely can't tell which tribe the dna is from.

Some are more accurate then others. I know what percentage of Cherokee blood I carry because my grandmother has traced our linage back 7 generations to a famous ancestor, Nanyehi.

I did my test through Ancestry.com and it came back and matched my Cherokee lineage records.

The other parts of my heritage are interesting also. I carry an Irish family name but my dna is split between English, Scandinavian, Irish and American native in that order.

She claims "Cherokee" but if you are not on the rolls, you aren't...

Total unadulterated bullshit. Because she isn't on the rolls of the tribe doesn't mean she doesn't have some Cherokee blood in her veins. That's the most ignorant thing I've heard in this entire thread and there are a lot of ignorant statements here. For many, many years first nation blood in a blood line was something to be ashamed of and was hidden when ever possible.

There are two distinct bands of the Cherokee nation and a whole slew of history behind the division. When someone says that they're Cherokee, the first thing they get asked is, "Which band?"

I can give you a real cliff-notes rundown if you want me to, but it's a HUGE thing. Technically we reconciled when we relit the eternal flame but... some people are still pretty... well on paper we're one nation but EVERYONE knows which band they are. And will tell you, and make sure you know.

But uh... there's a reason that I still live on my ancestral land and they don't. Not throwing shade, just saying, Warren.

True. Those who are in Oklahoma got there because their ancestors were rounded up, their land confiscated by the government and were either marched cross country or put on a ship and taken to New Orleans then marched cross country killing a third of them.

That's where my tie to the tribe is from. Through my mother and grand mother i'm a member of the Wolf clan. And yes I am on the membership rolls.

All that said, let's get back to Warren and Trump and the bullshit that has been said.

2) Trump made fun of it and issued a challenge.
3) Warren proved that she did have native blood. The amount doesn't matter because she never claimed to be enough to amount to anything, just that she had native blood in her blood line.
4) Trump says,"Who cares?" and reneges on his bet.
5) His supporters then go on the offensive to claim that she doesn't have enough native blood to make a claim and that Trumps challenge was only if she could prove she was Indian, insisting that it means she has enough to be on a tribal roll.

So what we have is the usual: A claim that is blown out of proportion by Trump to entertain his base, a bombastic bet made for even more entertainment then a dodge to get around it when called on it which is supported and abetted by his base.

This is better then Star Wars 'cause no one could make this shit up.

Native American dna is closer to the east Asian Siberian tribes which have not been sampled to any great amount. After all it's a dna comparison and you need a sample to compare it to. With over 200 tribes in North American alone it will be a few years before they have enough of a sample data base to compare with to get the designation down to a particular tribe.

The eastern-most point in Asia would be the Big Diomede Island (169 degrees 03 West), which is in Siberia, up there almost touching Alaska.
