It is illuminating to see the response of the ~not~ Progressives to their celebration of more Bernie Sanders. Rory is oblivious to the Pandora's box that he has opened and his defenders who have leaped into the breach, even more.

As I opined in my first post to this thread, I love the fact that, for Democrats, the embrace of Socialism (much less brown female Socialism) is a winning electoral strategy. They no longer want to have a relationship to middle America. Middle America is just a sea of unwashed white bigots, an appendage, that much like an infected appendix, must be removed.

Please Rory, and all of your fellow thinkers, keep pushing Socialism.

These people are in an uproar because there isn't enough free stuff for people breaking into our country. The same people are also campaigning for free college and free health care, and all this with a debt that already exceeds $20 trillion. All this while Medicare and Social Security are doomed.
How many hundreds of dollars more a month in taxes a month are you willing to pay for this free stuff?

So here is the thing that the rightwing frat boy crew fails to understand, some of them confuse socialism with communism--two different ideals, we ain't talking about the Bolsheviks here.

Furthermore, American progressives simply wish to protect the most vulnerable in a population from abuse by the majority, provide safety nets for the citizenry, instill clean air and water standards--all things that advance human kind regardless of race, gender,religion, or sexual orientation.


MODERN American Rightism (I refuse to say conservatism because it's become a monster), on the other hand wishes to reverse back time, a horrid time when folks were murdered and brutalized for being 'different' and as you can see hate crimes have soared since Obama took office. I wonder why?


Then there is such madness as fueling the school to prison pipeline reinforced by Devos, encouraging or turning a blind eye to police brutality, trying to take away healthcare for the sick and poor, etc.


So indeed, one group wants to advance human rights, while the other wishes to TRAMPLE on them. Yes, sometimes, progressives can be ANNOYING, but annoying beats DANGEROUS.

Sometimes there is an incumbent who is popular and certain to win reelection, until somebody runs against him or her in a primary election and wins. If that successful challenger is something of an extremist, frequently many who would have voted for the incumbent will, instead, vote for the candidate of the other party. I'm not saying that will happen here, but the Dems will not gain a seat in Congress, and they might lose one.

Thomas Kuchel, Max Rafferty and Alan Cranston represent an example of what I mean. Joe Lieberman could have been another one, but he was so popular he won reelection as an independent, and his party didn't actually lose anything. There are probably others, but those come to mind.
