Submit 4473 (Dealer must verify the personal info on the form, and yeah it's gone to 6 pages now.)

Submit for BG check (Handled by the FBI, either by E-Check or the older phone method. Both work. In either case the FBI has 3 days to confirm or deny. The FFL records the NTN number.)

Now here's where the fun starts..

You will receive a code usually within 30 minutes or so depending on the method used.

Proceed - Given for both phone and E-check. Sale can proceed. (If BG check comes back "clean" most FFLs will proceed as normal unless there is a compelling reason to cancel the transaction.)

Transfer or Researching - This means there is an issue that needs to be rechecked. Transaction is "transferred" for further "research" (remember the clock is ticking, the FBI has only 3 days to work with)

Sometimes these things are delayed usually due to volume, but for the most part all of the aforementioned will occur within an hour.

If the FFL gets one of the following then it is pretty much self explanitory

Cancel - Lack of sufficient information NO SALE

Deny - NO SALE

Open - This is an E-check status. It means that further investigation is required by the FBI. Sale must hold until either the FFL receives a Proceed, Deny or the 3 days waiting period runs out.

Delay - A phone status having the same criterion as "Open"

Aside from the obvious confirm or deny, this is where things get a little tricky. If the BG check takes longer than 3 days to resolve (that means a definite proceed or deny) the FFL (unless there is a state regulation or company policy denying this) MAY proceed with the sale at his discretion. This means that I (the dealer) can cancel the transaction at any time, for any reason, as long as I'm not violating your civil rights.

There is no requirement that I MUST sell you a firearm. Even if the BG check results are clean.

If you'd step out of your bubble and remember that guns have always been in America. At one time there was a gun in almost every home and there are millions in homes today. So what has changed? It isn't the gun, they've always been deadly.

In decades past where guns could be found in pick-up trucks in school parking lots all over the country nobody shot up any schools, why? Because there wasn't a monolithic left wing entertainment industry attacking the Christian morality most kids were raised under. Hollywood in the past promoted America it didn't spend its time promoting and selling gun violence and mass murder in the majority of movies kids flock to the theaters to see. Kids didn't spend their day with electronic games that give you points for killing people and raping women. For the most part in the past where killing and evil took place in movies there was always a moral outcome, a moral to the story that punished evil and promoted the general good.

Kids today are shown there are favorable outcomes to breaking the law, that they can profit from it, that breaking the law itself is just. They are taught their country, its laws, its founding, are illegitimate, unworthy of preservation. They are taught as well that it's white majority needs to be dispossessed one way or another. Can there be any doubt the product of these efforts will all end in tears?

If the shop owner wants to stay in business, he needs to move inventory. If the buyer's BG check is clean, the shop owner will finalize the sale. If there's a hold they will wait until the end of the waiting period (by the way, it's not 3 days. it's the time the State mandates. Some States have longer periods and some have NONE.) If the waiting period runs out and there's still a hold, the FFL will (in most cases) release the arm. He's in business to SELL guns, not keep people from buying them. If there's no reason to deny the sale, he'll go forward in almost every sale. And the one's he doesn't complete will be for reasons other than the BG check. Such as if the buyer is drunk or obviously emotionally out of control when he comes to pick up his property.
