You should be aware that WashTimes is the propaganda arm of Sun Yung Moon's Unification Church which features mass weddings and a disregard for observable reality.

Here is my version of open borders: Anyone who wants can come to USA to study or work as long as they're not bothersome ie criminal violators. While here they pay fees and taxes that remain here and no, they don't qualify for welfare... unless they're hired by WalMart. They're free to return to their home nations and then re-enter USA for more fee- and tax-paying.

Concrete example: We loved visiting Zacatecas state in Mexico. Alas, NAFTA killed small indy agriculture; many Zacatecan farmers came to USA to work to survive, not always with proper documentation. Yes, civil violations. Most want to go home to their families when USA ag seasons are over, then return to make more money (and pay more USA taxes) -- but they can't; they're forced to stay hidden here, sending money home to feed the kids.

(Ask me about the weird effects this has on Zacatecas real estate.)
