Aussies! Check in here!

Despite the cold day, a little lasted of Summer to come with the Test starting in Bangladesh. Pity it wasn't a better start by the Aussies. Still, it's better than the series being cancelled.

The first day at the Gabba draws near...
Which is why it was imperative that an Australian test side toured Bangladesh. I'm not sure the current West Indies test side offers England much in the way of Ashes preparation.

First day of The Ashes series in sunny, warm Brisbane...how tempting.

RIP old mate.

Had to put a horse down today. An old girl. She'd lead a charmed life. Never easy but comes with the turf.

Will get very drunk later and erase the brain cells associated.

I have a wager going on with the bombers Sydney game.. lol sigh
I'm hoping wce knock port out, everything is crossed. Lol can not handle those boys wining another grand final ever again.

Hmmm think you are nuts for Bombers V Swans, but love your enthusiasm for the red and black. Cant agree more re port, but again I doubt it, wce just don't travel.

Me Im hanging out to see if not only Sloaney plays but can do so well after surgery today and Yay that McGovern has resigned.

Carn the Crows

The Bangladesh side certainly exposed Aussie batsman's lack of dedication against the moving ball. There is some deadwood that has to go.

And the Windes roll the Poms scoring 307 on the last day... I wonder how much the sub-continent bookies made on that one 🤔...

As a WCE supporter I'm hoping they knock out Port too.
Not all that confident though

Both series shaping up to be much more interesting than many predicted! And I'll raise a glass to that and to the joys of Test cricket in general :)

Totally not sport-related....
My recovery is going well. I am now walking up to an hour and 1/2 each day. External surgical sites now healed - I am 3 weeks post-surgery.
Altogether quite happy, although I'll be extatic when I can drive again!

Decided to have a makeover and had a haircut today so I'm feeling quite glamorous

Haven't been watching much tv while I have been recuperating, but I have managed to read all the books on my wanted list! Now I have to hunt for things to do!

Are we all enrolled to vote in our horrendously expensive and useless ssm postal vote?

Hi good to hear your recovering very well
All the best for the future cheers

Nfl is in pre season and I'm a big fan of the Redskins.... not they have done much the last 20 years. That will start prob just before the GF, so good timing for me.

Yep looking forward to the NFL season. Don't follow any particular team but do like the Broncos and Packers. It seems they are already predicting that the Patriots are going to make the Superbowl.

Will mean early Monday mornings to see the games live. Usually soaks up the whole day.

I care about the finals since my team made them this year. Not sure how far they will go but at least they made the finals.

The Bombers , Swans game will be hard to pick. Don't think either will get too far.

The Crows seem the big danger and hoping a Vic team makes the Grand Final. As for tips here goes; Crows over GWS, Tigers over Cats, Bombers over Swans, Port over Eagles

Hey WQ

Good to hear that you are getting better and feeling better about life.

I've spent a few days cleaning up the house and just tidying up the place after Winter's slow days, although in the past couple of weeks it feels like the time has flown.

You mean you haven't been watching the Bachelor, nope me neither.

Funny isn't it that most Liberal MP's when interviewed state they are voting Yes, yet it's their inability to say that in their party room is why we are doing this "survey". Just a stupid waste of money. Wonder if we can bill the Libs afterwards?

Afternoon all,

Ah yes Spring. Spent a few hours on Thurs hacking stuff in the garden. Mainly cause it was green bin day and it was sunny. Was supposed to be 17. Not sure where that was but not near my place.

Have taken advantage of the Fathers' Days sales even though I'm not a father. Last year they kept going because of the footy finals. Any reason for retail to make a dollar. And here in Melbourne town we get a public holiday pre-Grand Final. Not sure why, but why not since a former Lib govt took away our Show Day.

Not too surprised that people finally woke up to the scams on power price deals. The govt has no appetite to do anything about it afterall the govt caused the issue by selling off those govt assets in the first place. Did they really think using private companies would mean lower prices, I mean they are in for the profit nothing else.

Hope your weekend is going well.

Thanks DU Girl, planning on putting my feet up today... as if that's going to happen. Lol.

I see the elf gave the Don's the kiss of death, worried yet?

We don't celebrate Fathers Day here.....but Happy Fathers Day to those that do :)
Actually, we don't celebrate any of those commercialised days - no Fathers, Mothers, Valentines, etc. My reasoning is, if you have to be reminded for weeks ahead to remember to tell someone you appreciate/love them, then it's a vaccuous statement. Far better to tell the people you care about them randomly, on any day, for no particular reason :rose:

After many weeks of preventative measures, I might finally have succumbed to the dreaded lurgy that has flattened everyone around me :(
Woken up with pain in my sinus.
Time to break out the red wine - cooked up with a few choice ingredients, gluhwein has long been the go-to in my house for all kinds of colds and flu.
So....gluhewein, salt gargles, rest, warmth, and maybe a panadol if needed.
Not looking forward to the coughing, although I am essentially healed from surgery!

Started getting ready for summer gardening. Plowed three of the small pasture cells for the sheep and turned last years mulch into the vegie garden. Just need a little sky juice now to put some moisture in the soil.

Have been madly starting seedlings ready for planting in a few weeks.

Spring has sprung.

Happy Dad's day all you dads and single mums doing the dad thing too.
