As more and more "migrants" seek asylum in Canada some harsh realities are setting in.

"Not so fast illegals."

Canada has pretty stiff immigration laws, and has always had a reputation of enforcing same. All the while many Canadian citizens (even some on this board, go figure) have criticized US policy in general, and Trumps crack down in particular, for applying the same laws that they have, and apply, in their own nation.

I wonder if they're going to turn the same criticism they aimed at the US on their own government now?

Canadians can want to welcome illegals and refugees all they want, and criticize Trumps ban on muslim countries. Doesn't mean the goverment will listen and/or cater to public opinion.

Ismail there's nothing out of the ordinary for foreign refugees. They are taking their quotas.

They however seem to have remembered that they cannot give asylum to people entering from the US, based on the law.

The asylum had to be applied to in the US.

Let me explain further. I NEVER said that Canada wasn't taking their quota, whatever that is as defined by Canadian law.

What I AM saying in that Canada has some stringent immigration laws and they enforce them.

I am also saying that many Canadians, including their press, have;

1. Criticized the US for not opening our borders,

2. gone ape shit over the notion that Trump IS going to enforce our laws.

And now it appears that Canada is going to have to walk in our shoes and the fact that those shoes are tight is beginning to show.

Ishmael

PS You are welcome to all the cockroaches we can send you.

Why do I somehow get the feeling that if all of these new immigrants possessed blonde hair, blue eyes one would hear crickets chirping from the right?

Canadians are so much more advanced and intelligent than right wing Americans.

And better people in general. Such a beautiful country! Such a forward thinking leader unlike the wrinkly, hate-filled POTUS of the right wing.

Why are all right wing racist men so bitter? You walk by them they look like they are raging at the world with their sneers?

I honestly wish you right wing old men would just get the hell out and make your own utopia free from those you know, colored folks and the others.

But you all will perish soon. Too bad you raise your offspring with such filth.

Don't bust a blood vessel every time you see one of US walk by.

Get over it, we are here to stay.

Yes. where did I hear this before..

Oh yes.. when the islamist living in liverpool cursed the christian white man in public coz its in his rights to do so.

(Christian white man is the man who gave him these rights he doesn't have a fraction of where he comes from - get it, get it? )

We get it, the people of color should be showing the white man more respect because he allowed the coloreds to live among them.
Has anyone told you lately that you're a moron?

You're the moron for seeing it that way.

How about people who feel as she does try and find others reasons for the things she's complaining about than the usual bs she mentions?

You're right, you should set her straight and tell her how to feel. Coloreds.. amirite?

As an aside, I read that as Club Canada, like Club Copa...,

For a little bit, I pictured you as Rick.

;) ;)

It seems that a lot of people are starting to get the message. The immigrants share a common religion/culture, a common bond and are loath to voluntarily surrender their way of life.

"Immigrants" They have you using that word now. We aren't speaking of 'immigrants', we're talking about illegal aliens.

That's exactly the tactic the Nazis used, change the meaning of words and force people to accept the new definitions. There are words that have been redefined here, such as racist.

The chocolate ration has been increased from 8.4 grams to 6.9 grams...

Yes!

News is now Fake News.

Financial standing is a big piece of the immigration equation in Canada.

sean's "visa troubles" here show our system works.

And skill set. Your immigration system is much like the point system that Oz has adopted.

Canada was always tight going back as far as I can remember.

Our Immigration policy is a bit static in terms of numbers and has been since at least the 1970's. It always hovers around 400,000 but could easily be a million and nobody would notice unless you are taking a cab in toronto, montreal, vancouver or calgary.

We also focus on people with family, education, skills and the financial wherewithal to support themselves and their families without going on welfare.

Our Refugee policy seems quite fair and has centered until now mostly on people who arrive by boat, usually as stowaways or mistreated crew. Everyone gets local/provincial welfare, for example, while waiting for their refugee hearings and appeals, which take years, so we're not dumping them across the border to the USA (for example) to get them off our books.
