It's actually believed by creationists that the continents drifted quickly during the flood. "The fountains of the deep" poured out and if you look at Google Earth image of the earth in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, you will see a huge rip in the earth, which is probably where the fountains of the deep emerged during the flood as the Bible says. It's not about the half lives on radio metric dating, it's just that their methods don't line up with the actual evidence. That's why they dated rocks known to be only a few decades old, such as the rocks from Mt. St. Helens to be Millions of years old. Obviously there are flaws. There are theories as to why the stars are millions of light years away, given the fact that the earth is 6000 years old. One of the theories is that, due to the fact that the speed of light is not a contstant, it may have been much faster in the past. So, at the current speed of light, it would take millions of years to get to those stars, but perhaps at the speed that it previously traveled it was a much shorter time. That's why we need creationism to be taught side by side in schools with evolution, so that the students can get both sides of the story and decide for themselves which is true rather than having evolution shoved down their throats.
Listen to yourself. "Rocks from Mt. St. Helens were only a few decades old." Of course that isn't true, and you can't believe that a mere volcano actually created rocks.

You have no idea how science works. Nobody decided that evolution is true; the evidence shows that evolution is far and away the best explanation for life on earth.

Creation is not the other side of the story. There are hundreds of creation tales among ancient writings, and many of them make more scientific sense than Genesis. Not to mention the four other creation stories in the bible besides the two in Genesis.

If people like you were to be responsible for teaching children, you would only teach them the little that you remember, and the rest would be just something God did. Those kids would then do the same, and eventually there would be nothing left of human knowledge but a false hope in an invisible dad.

xfrodobagginsx, you may try: they may have been closer and got further away.

Doing both creationism and evolution is what's best indeed. And it has been challenging given our fast paced life today. Too faced paced. So one is being discounted for the other.

One of the consequences, is a lack of knowledge that should've been there, that the speed of light is always the same.

Not in a science class. Creationism is nothing like science whatsoever.

Go to Ken Ham's Church of Noah's Ark, and you won't find one shred of genuine science in the entire place.

No, not in a science class. I agree.

Who decides if you get in?

The one who fulfilled hundreds of prophecies in His birth, life and death. The one who performed miracles such as walking on water, turning water into wine, healing the sick, making the blind to see, raising the dead, predicting His own death and resurrection and then dying and rising from the dead. He ascended into heaven in front of hundreds of people. That person...Jesus Christ will decide and who did Jesus say would get there and what would He say to them?

This is who Jesus said would be saved from hell and who would not:

Joh 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

This is what Jesus said He will say to those who don't trust in Him:

Mt 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

From where are you getting this nonsense? Conservapedia, or Answers in Genesis?

I say this in all earnestness that, if you'd like to understand the science, it's best to start from square one.

Matthew 12:40 For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Sorry, only 40 hours, less than two days.

1.Verses 1 & 2?

2. What's your angle on that?

- Genesis 1:1–2 states, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” The gap theory is the view that God created a fully functional earth with all animals, including the dinosaurs and other creatures we know only from the fossil record. Then, the theory goes, something happened to destroy the earth completely—most likely the fall of Satan to earth—so that the planet became without form and void. At this point, God started all over again, recreating the earth in its paradise form as further described in Genesis. The gap theory, which is distinct from theistic evolution and the day-age theory, is also called old-earth creationism, gap creationism, and the ruin-reconstruction theory.

There is a translation issue (Now the earth was formless and empty) or (Now the earth became formless and empty). Big difference. The same word is translated both ways in the bible.

I just thought it was an interesting thing to ponder.

Maybe it has something to do with:

"Before Abraham was, I AM"?

Who came first? God? The Word? which ultimately was God?

Really. I would much prefer to be like one of the others.

Leaving aside all of the other bizarre claims in this long-winded paragraph, the bit about light travel is astonishing that you would feel the need to explain it.

If a train left London for the Midlands three hours ago, the fact that you only erected a tent 5 minutes ago has no bearing on when the train arrives. The "sudden" appearance of the train should cause no consternation.

The Creationists DO study the science and they have great theories, much better than evolutionists.

I can't buy into the gap theory. Makes as much sense as young earth creationism to me. But I've always had issues with taking the Bible literally, especially with creation.

Just stick with the words actually spoken by Jesus of Nazareth. The rest is either meh! or B.S.!

There is much in the Bible that is neither meh or bs. Psalms, Proverbs, Romans, Thessalonians, Acts, Daniel.
The Bible and God are more than just Jesus and Moses.

By rights the OT is about Abraham and his people and the NT is about the words of Jesus of Nazareth. Most of the NT is just commentary and extrapolation of the few words that can possibly be equated to Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus actual teachings and life would barely fill a pamphlet.

Creationism is emphatically not a science, nor does it compare favorably to contemporary scientific theory.

Consider one of main arguments for the validity of science, the success of science. Would technologists and engineers refer to creationism for the design and specification of their devices? Would medical researchers refer to creationism when investigating a new drug or therapy?

Of course they wouldn't. Creationism fails this test of scientific validity.
