Trump is the reckless, stupid Traitor-in-Chief: LOCK HIM UP!

Stipulated. But "breaking the law" isn't really what this is about, the "lock him up" in the title notwithstanding.

In other words "I didn't really say what you thought I said."

Another strong candidate for the Oreo/Spidey/Phrodough Doublespeak and Convoluted Logic Award.

May the best man win.

The problem is that a president can do pretty much anything he wants. The only real constraints on him are

1) his own sense of duty and morality, not applicable in Trump's case; and

2) the threat of impeachment, not applicable until January 2019 at the earliest.

Maybe the miracle is that it took us 228 years to end up with someone like this in the White House. Shit, there were only three emperors between Julius Caesar and Caligula.

You know, this morning you look kind of silly because you are attacking Abu Ivanka al-Amriki over something that did not happen according to the other people in the room...

In short, you have been taken in by FAKE NEWS.

:(

Everyone should just agree to pour a ton of money into a really thorough investigation, turbo-charge it, share the results, and get this shit over with. Get the special prosecutor. This is ridiculous. It is toxic toxic toxic. It is weakening the country, which is exactly what our enemies, whomever they may be, want.

Did you, or the Republicans call for a special prosecutor over the FBI targeting, Fast&Furious, Benghazi or Clinton's use of a private server for State Department business???

If not, then you are a fucking hypocrite.

how can you POST this and NOT post that the SOS and Gen HR btoth said they were in the room and the story is FALSE?

HOW CAN YOU OMIT THAT, BUM NEXT DOOR?

They believe the story, they do not need facts.

This is beginning to happen on a daily basis...

While likely technically true, at least in some regard, which is the most likely scenario?

- Trump consciously decided to declassify code-word intelligence that we haven't even been sharing with our allies, intelligence from someone within ISIS, and share it with the Russians, with no consultation with the intelligence community
- Trump was bragging again

Individuals who are "extremely careless" with classified information should be denied further access to such info. - Paul Ryan, July 2016

Even after proof has been posted, the story is still true.

And these people are not at all ...

Kinda hard when neither side wants anything other than a partisan witch hunt while they pretend everyone on their team is a fuckin' saint.

That was different because Clinton and (D), which makes it all OK because she's special. Only (R)'s can be bad guys.

*chuckle*

And Abu Ivanka al-Amriki and family are Democrats...

That's what makes this even funnier on a daily basis.

as a foreigner I just want to understand how the American system works.

So far, what I'm hearing is that if a Democrat politician lies or does something wrong and covers it up and or denies it, they're a criminal and should be locked up. If on the other hand a Republican politician lies or does something wrong and covers it up and or denies it they're innocent and a victim of the phoney press and fake news.

Ok. So why did Nixon resign then? On the basis of the American system surely he should have been given the congressional medal of honour and a life long pension. I guess he was the wrong colour, i.e. not orange!

No. You're taking sides.

We all want our politicians to be held to a standard. What you do not get is that the press is overwhelmingly Democrat-leaning. It is proved by both polling and by campaign contributions (or by deed as in Candy Crowley playing the part of the third debater) not to mention, a story like this where the WaPo did not talk to anyone who was in the meeting in order to verify the story of their "leaker."

Therefore, there is a sense of frustration with Republicans and many independents over the double standard that allows people like Hillary Clinton wide ethical latitude while honing in like a laser on the mere rumor that some Republican is maybe, possibly, bending the rules a little bit...

The Press finds it impossible to find a sane Republican (save possibly John McCain, who might actually be fucking insane) and yet sees Maxine Waters, Sheila Jackson Lee and that congressman who thought additional Marines could possibly tip Guam over as rational and smarter than any Republican.

You are stating the exact opposite, which is a denial of reality.

Oh but hey. Emails.

This is why this is all a farce to me now.

But it's okay because it's a republican and a man and Trump.

There are no standards. There is no consistency. It's all about what you (universal) can get away with.

My perception of americans versus australasians or canadians,
Only as far as politics are concerned

Is that americans (and lately, europeans) tend to get way more emotionally involved in politics.

I wonder why that is.
Is it because they faced significant economic changes over the last 15 years, so it's more or less like an existential crisis for them?
Or because their two political tier system appears, superficially to be so split?

No. You're taking sides.

Quoted for the sheer hilarity of the hypocrisy.

Now scream Fake News again. :D

Because we still see ourselves as individuals and not tribe members and we have not fully accepted the idea of a benevolent social welfare state where we work to benefit others instead of ourselves knowing that in turn we can humbly beg for the government to return some of what was ours when it forces us into need...

A lot of the rest of the "civilized" world has never known a world where government was not the center of all social activity.

(D)/progressive hypocrisy isn't anyones problem but theirs.

But it's okay because it's a republican and a man and Trump.

No it's ok because we decided to no longer hold our elected officials accountable for anything even when they are caught red handed.

Team (D) set that standard and it was all laughs until they weren't in charge anymore.....

are no standards. There is no consistency. It's all about what you (universal) can get away with.

Very good.....now if everyone would just stop pretending only the other team does it because their team is perfect and wonderful in all things, we might actually be achieving real progress.

But i wouldn't hold my breath......most people don't give a fuck what happens as long as it's their team doing it they got their teams back.

That makes more sense.

Moreover:
I, for example would like to discuss local politics, but they're so tedious over here… All this PC flowery and bombastic language and fear of communicating eve the slightly more risky idea....

Americans have no qualms about going straight to the matter.
You guys are far more interesting.

I can assure you that's not how it looks from the outside.

Yes we held them so accountable we made good the enemy of perfect. We held them so accountable we got an utterly incompetent fool in the OO.
And all of his supporting lackeys in Congress.

We bit off our nose to spite our face and if you're fucking stupid enough to believe that it was over accountability I've got a beach front property to sell you in Kansas.

When your government runs everything, education, health, transportation, information dissemination, etc., then all that is left is the discussion of resource confiscation and allocation...

I can assure you that's not how it looks from the outside.

That's because you read the story as being written by the Democrat team and refuse to read anything outside of that narrative because it's conservative and you are very biased towards anything that is not in your political comfort zone.

I'll bet you actually believe this story is true and that the Trump Team and the Russians are lying through their teeth when they state the story false, because, you know, Trump and the Russians are still 'colluding...'

Yes we held them so accountable we made good the enemy of perfect.

LOL right.....that must be why it was ok to let Clinton slide on a 10 year felony.

We held them so accountable we got an utterly incompetent fool in the OO.

You didn't hold Clinton or Obama accountable for shit.

Obama was one of the biggest corporate whores ever and Clinton got away with being caught red handed doing something we regularly send poor people to prison for.

Your lot backed it 110% and became the elitist scum they are allegedly against practically destroying the DNC to the point someone like Trump took them down without them seeing it coming.

We bit off our nose to spite our face and if you're fucking stupid enough to believe that it was over accountability I've got a beach front property to sell you in Kansas.

No you sold out to save your own ass's and now you're trying to hold the big lie together as it all comes crumbling down.

Accountability is an accessory to the real foul which is the point blank lies and pretending.

Go ahead....send another Wall St. (D) in what was it 20k? worth of outfit to lecture the working class on how hard things are, keep promising progress and delivering Monsanto protection acts, ACA and 700k dollar wall st. speaking fees....it's working great for team (D) LOL

Interesting. I guess living in a country that has been a "benevolent social welfare state" 😎 for the last 80 years does impact your world view somewhat.

However I would say that nzers still see themselves as individuals and not tribe members, in fact our highly individualistic streak and self reliance is commented on by outside observers and can be seen in any of the international travel guides on our country, similarly the Aussies. So it's not quite that straight forward.
