I think someone's been to the body and paint shop...

:D ;) ;)

Everyone was fighting over my chicken base. Princess was sick when she left for work, so I promised her to use it to make chicken noodle soup. The Queen came home from church and shopping and puttering around in the kitchen. When she sat down, I told her about the soup and she said that I had better go turn off the stock because she was getting ready to make a pot pie with it. Well, not fighting actually, just complementing the cook.

I need to make something great today...

;)

I think I have some salmon that needs a good grilling.

Oh yeah, and some shrimp! I still have peppers left for poppers. Now, to settle on a vegetable, hmmm...,

The day went well, all in all. We have this one annoying little fuck. He thought he was going to make me dance to his tune. Wrong, wanker. Didn't fucking happen.

Long damn Monday. I got home after 2130, but that's about normal.

I got a chance to help some folks who really needed it, which is always a cheap thrill.

I finished "To Lose a Battle" last night. France lost. Von Manstein has a very humble explanation for his brilliant plan. It went something like, we hit them in the weakest spot and their recon was fer scheiss.

You labelled it again. I never thought about it in that way but it makes sense.

I too, as a rule enjoyed helping certain people who needed it mostly junior colleagues at work.
And come to think about it, unlike you or others, the thrill and and adrenalin rush were more important to me than any altruistic emotions.

Happy Tuesday!!!

Yeah, that's my experience. It is a cheap thrill to help others, but there is another benefit. It helps get me out of depression and self-absorption. I'm a better person, yes, but I also have better insides. My mind is clearer, my thinking is more reliable, my head is quieter, and my insides are calm.

Warmer again today. My weasels should finish the woodwork this week, insh'Allah that they get done and gone. I'm sure I'll have to go behind them and make notes of things they neglected. My painter is dying because he's short of people and is spread too thin. He'll think of something.

If could just anyone do this, WTF would I do?

Since the Queen tithes 10% to the church (plus whatever they can guilt her into putting into the plate on Sundays) I kind of feel like it's my dime plus my free labor...

:(

;)

Well, since I don't "do" the church in the formal church-going and Allah-fearing way, I wind up giving to many small organizations, some with church or churchlike roots, and others based in altruism.

Just as long as management ain't getting rich suckin' that teat, you know? It's like teaching school - you decide to help kids, not make a killing.

But if they were paid better, likely we'd draw better folks into it.

I'm playing Let's Make A Deal on our remaining appliances today, with the idea of making a few shekels to donate to . . . my savings fund for my next big-ticket purchase. I may need some retail therapy . . . .

I used to do that too, but once she found Jesus, I feel that I have less discretionary income.

At least we still spend less than we earn. There's that...

Yes, there's that.

This year is about earning still more and spending less. I also need to get the housemate - think "tenant" - on a more predictable schedule for her contributions to expenses around here.

It's Fat Tuesday. There will be a lot of pancake suppers at churches which will need to be paid for. Probably no side dishes of weasel casserole, either. :(

Speaking of weasels . . . .

1.I know folks who do mission trips. It really is a nice way to see chunks of the world . . .
on someone else's dime.

2.Started "Achtung Panzer" last night. This is going to be fun.

1.Indeed

2.I noticed that men often turn to history books when searching for answers. Women - less so, and perhaps they gravitate towards the more 'humanistic' disciplines.

Home. Hi, kids. It was a long day. The VP was out and he was really wound up pretty tight. He gave me a long list of marching orders, so March will be assholes-n-elbows. But he did mention a word that is near and dear to my coal-black heart - bonuses.

My new book is about history in terms of analyzing it to determine what to do with this new weapon, the tank. So it is about the development of tactics and their application in a strategic sense.

I'm having ice cream for supper. I'm too sleepy to go out for Taco Tuesday - I was already out, but still - and I wasn't going to fix anything more complicated when I got home. So, ice cream it is.

Off to bed shortly . . . .

Guderian, you magnificent bastard, I read your book too!

Nice car, but I hate the all white. It needs the Count's Kustoms treatment...

busybody is on crack this morning, I take it he liked the speech last night.

I wonder how many threads will be started on the usual topics, he's insane, he's Hitler, we're all going to die...,

;) ;)

Happy Wednesday, and Happy March!!! The eagle has shat shekels into the account of Wat, so Wat paid some of the first-o'-the-month stuff to get it out of the way.

Given a choice, I'd rather get paid twice a month like the job from 10 years ago did.

That was they funny bit about that quote. He credited Rommel. I didn't figure out what was wrong there until years later.

I did figure out the 1948 Packard in the dark first time through.

Looking at the byline would be appropriate.

Hurryin' Heinz had the spearpoint in France. Rommel was a flank on the Northern Diversion. Heinz had a corps and Erwin only had a division.

Makes you wonder what might have happened if they'd sent Heinz to Africa and Erwin to Russia in 1941, eh what?

Or if they'd just gone ahead and taken out the Brits in Africa in the first place and left Iosef to simmer for a few more years.
