Which part of the Bible explains the Trinity? I'll hold.

The Trinity:

1Jo 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

The Trinity:

Mt 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

The Trinity:

Lu 3:22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

Those verses mention the Trinity but do not explain it.

Here's a curious thing: Fundies often excoriate atheists, agnostics and scientific materialists for "humanism," for making man the measure of all things, which is argued to be a form of hubris. But it's really Christianity that does that. Scientific materialism does not assume human beings have any cosmic significance; we're just accidental products of natural forces. In the Christian word-view, the most important thing in the universe is not God. God is the best and wisest and most powerful thing in the universe; but the most important thing in the universe, the thing with which Christians are supposed to be most concerned, and with which God is supposes to be most concerned, is the individual human soul, and its fate in the eternal afterlife. As for the non-human material universe, it was made for humans, and is really nothing but a stage set for a morality play in which humans are the actors and characters and audience, and God will dispose of it and substitute something better once the play is played out. Now that's hubris!

Because the old testament was before Jesus. So when Jesus came you get the son and when he goes back to his father the holy spirit is sent to be with us. John 16:7. Of course, you would have to believe in the fully divine Christ in order to believe what he said about the Holy Spirit.

But what does the HS do? What role does it fill that the other two persons do not?

Some people say that God must have made mistakes in order to have to change things with the coming of Jesus. However, there is much prophecy about the coming Messiah in the old testament. It was all in the plan. In my opinion, Jesus helped believers realize that God did understand even their deepest pain. After Jesus died and went back to heaven he sent the holy spirit to be with each one of us who believe. You had to physically be with the man Jesus to get ministered to directly by him. Now Jesus has sent the other aspect of himself. He sent the Holy Spirit to be in you. (NO not Jesus porn) You don't have to go anywhere. He meets you were you are.

Wow this is intense. Had to look up Fundies in the urban dictionary. I guess I would be one. You have pointed out the thing Christians and God are most concerned about - the individual human soul. The thing is that most atheists, agnostics and scientific materialists are only trying to define things in this life. Christians are of the premise this world is not our home, we are only passing through. Use this short life to the best of your ability, because it is important to how you will spend eternity. If I point out my beliefs than I am immediately labeled as intolerant and judgemental.

This is how I live my life. I really don't judge people. We all have to get through this journey of life somehow. Who am I to say how a person should do it? Look at me - I am no saint. I am a Christian on a porn board. It just hurts me that people have to become a Reverend of the Church of Smut because Christians have made them feel unloved. It hurts me when friends of my mother's who were gay could not find a place in the Christian local churches who would minister to them when one of them was dying of cancer.

Make no mistake I don't think God likes some of the things we are doing. But he loves us. If you can't share yourself and feel loved in a community of Christians than something is wrong. God may not like what you are doing, but he loves you. I admit I worry about the people on the board. I hope that I will say something that will make a difference. I want everyone to come with me into eternity.:rose:

Some say it's all Eve's fault for breaking her diet.

It was the snake, Satan. Our saviour and deliverer from the captive animal life of the Garden Of Eden. Before Satan talked Eve into partaking of the Tree of Knowledge we were like pets kept in a zoo. No knowledge of good or evil. How does one make human rational decisions? Animals don't know good or evil. Innocent yes but sentient?

They got a church of Satan in Ontario?

Some folks are quite content with embracing the fact that there is no life after death. There is simply death as the very natural and simple necessity of the conclusion of life. Can you even imagine what an eternity trapped within your present limited consciousness would be? You would long for the cessation of life. But I digress.

A better question may be something like the following - "How can I try and approximate a heaven on earth for me, those I care about and even those I do not?" since this life is all you have and all you will ever get. The finite nature of consciousness as you understand it mandates (or rather should mandate) that you life the life you have to the fullest.

There are no ghosts and believing in them only lessens you.

Amen.

And if there was no one left but them, they'd destroy each other, and themselves along the way.

Well, that's another difference between Satanism and Christianity: Christianity is supposed to be for everybody. Satanists believe their way is only for a self-selected elite.

Utter nonsense. Its a recycled form of collecting membership dues.

Everything you need is in the Bible, and the day you no longer do, you're no elite; u're some heavily tattooed moron who thinks he's free and above all, coz everyone else appear weak; while they are responsible enough to be kind and strong, and keep his world protected from other animals like him from getting his stuff.

Just think of how far the human race would be without the whole religion thing. So much time and resources would be put to others things. We'd probably be so much more advanced than we are right now. I not saying religion is a bad thing or a good thing. But so many wars have been waged in its name. So many people killed over it killed for it. So many people telling you your wrong for not believing what they believe. And the bottom line is no one knows whats waiting on the day you leave this earth. People believe they know whats waiting. But you won't know till that day. And everyone I mean everyone faces that day no matter what you believe or do in this life.
