It is the dismissal of the legitimacy of the other guy's opinion for whatever reason and expressing that dismissal with vitriol that has resulted in gridlock. BOTH sides long ago concluded that NO compromise is worthwhile.

Having come to that conclusion, there is little to have a dialogue about. Those in the middle are left stranded.

In order to check the facts I've been perusing several different news outlets online. It just seems like that there can't be any discussion without name calling rather than facts and opinions.
