Aussies! Check in here!

I would put them on a par with each other, two of the better cheese places in Adelaide

Well that just means I need to spend more time there next time.

Can certainly see why people would want to live in the Adelaide Hills, lovely countryside places to visit. Lots of greenery even with all that heat.

13mm of rain yesterday, cooled the top layer of dust at least... Thank god for beer, Queensland is turning it on at the moment. Christmas and New Years done, kids almost back to school. Roll on 2017... Was nice to have my queen home for a few weeks holidays. All good things come to an end though...

Hope your 2017's are happy ones.

Morning all,

Well it's Tennis time in Melbourne so naturally it's hot again. Thankfully a cool change forecasted for later this afternoon.

I did my bit for the economy yesterday purchasing a new mattress and couch. I saved thousands but also spent thousands. Like when did a mattress cost so much? Also found that not matter which couch I wanted to purchase they are all made in China these days.

Hope people find a way to stay cool today. This Summer I have sweated so much and we still have another month to go.

Hmmm Adelaide Hills winter would more than rival Melbourne

Gets very cold up in the hills normally 5 degrees different from Adelaide. Can be more or less, lot cooler in summer with gully breezes but then some minus degrees in winter. At least 5 or more bouts of frozen windscreens where you need a bucket or two lol.

Yep we can get those similar temps in the winter although the outer suburbs cop more of the icy conditions, however our suburbs stretch a long way out so some parts could be considered resembling more countryside than typical city. Not a lot of concrete and pavement in those places. We get those chilly southerly winds in winter and most people can't handle the wind chill. I have friends from Sydney who have experienced that once and mentioned they wouldn't be back in Melbourne during the Winter ever again because of the wind chill factor.

Will definitely be visiting in the cooler season when next in Hahndorf. I actually prefer the colder temps to the heat of Summer. Still want to experience a white Christmas somewhere, probably Canada is the place to go.

Morning all,

Well today is my official start date of being classified as a pensioner and I get an income again so really happy about that even if its from my own super. So pensioner in name only and have the privilege of paying lots of tax again and not getting any discounts on anything. So yeah me...ok those last two bits, not so happy about but such is life for now. Just have to buy more booze.

Very nice couple of days in Melbourne town after the heat earlier in the week. Got a bit warm yesterday afternoon even with the nice cooler breezes. Good days to be watching the tennis courtside if anyone is going. For locals it's a good time to be away from the city unless you like lots of crowds in your face everywhere you go.

Hope your week is going well thus far.

Afternoon all,

Well Jan is nearly over and hot cross buns have been in the supermarkets for nearly two weeks. That is just not right.

Was watching the NFL today. The Superbowl will be between the Patriots vs Falcons, no doubt the Patriots will be favourites. Actually we are spoilt for choice at the moment of watching sport on TV. The cycling, tennis, cricket, NFL, definitely need a good couch.

Well Trump is already entertaining people with his attitude. It's going to be like watching car crash TV, quite entertaining so long as you're not in it.

First major purchase for the year arrives tomorrow, looking forward to that.

With the shortened work week, hope everyone enjoys their Australia Day on Thursday not matter how you intend to celebrate it.

Supermarkets on my side of town had hot cross buns before NYE, and Easter Eggs by the 10th of Jan:mad:
I won't be finished with the Christmas chocolates before Easter. Having to keep them in a cool dark place over Summer makes them last really well:D

Hoping Melbourne people avoided the criminal tragedy the other day. Shocking and disturbing thing.

I am so angry about what happened, I can barely put together a coherent sentence.
How DARE our systems fail so badly.........from the magistrate that let him out, to the police heirarchy that refused permission for police at the various scenes throughout that day allowing them to act......
Our society is being systematically allowed to believe that these things can't be prevented, when we all know it's the bleeding hearts calling for second, third, even tenth, chances - they are what have muddied the system to the point that it simply is not working any more.

I'm too angry to make a decision about what I as a citizen might be able to do to make a difference.
But I will somehow do something - join a party, help with petitions, something - to make my citizen-voice and that of all other Aussies who are fed up with the failures heard.
First I need to calm down though.....

Love the NFL, and in particular the Skins. Hoping the Patriots don't get up this time, they already have plenty of titles. Thinking the secret weapon for the Falcons (who have never won a SB), is the play calling of their OC Kyle Shanahan. Patriots have the best defense and Falcons have the best offense.

Should be a great game, looking forward to it.

With all this heat and humidity I reckon most people are looking for a cool dark place

Is it tragedy if I said I threw out chocs that had gone off cause I forgot they were in the cupboard?

Discovered that those hand made chocs last longer than the normal retail ones.

Yep good idea WQ letting the anger dissipate is the better option. May help to write it down and get it out of your system. I used to punch walls till I discovered that writing down the anger helped otherwise I could of done some damage to others.

Yes you're right. The only way to bring a better system is to protest, join a citizen action group. People power works, it may take longer but that's how we get positive change. The police apparently opposed bail for the guy then were trying to arrest him during the morning he was released after he offended again. Now he apparently was too ill to front court and tried to hide his face which is rather silly since he was on social media anyway.

Yep I like it even if I don't know all the rules and there is so much happening on each play. Not surprised that Hayne had problems fitting in as it is a very technical game. I'm hoping for a good game at the Super Bowl. I think most people will be hoping the Falcons can do it, but the Patriots are hard to contain. I was hoping that the Packers would get up but they just couldn't get their stuff together.

Would like to go to an NFL game one day.

Afternoon all,

Well the new mattress arrived and thankfully the rain stayed away. Had a bit of a struggle getting the fitted sheet on the new thicker mattress. Hoping the other sheets will fit without a struggle.

Lovely and cool in Melbourne town today after the humidity of yesterday. Saw the tennis and Nadal was generating a river. Not sure how he saw the ball.

The floral tributes keep growing at the GPO in Bourke St for the people that were killed by that jackass. Don't quite know how he got to Bourke St from where he was at Flinders St. The point being the Bourke St mall is not close to Flinders St. If you were in Bourke St at the time you wouldn't be aware of what was going on at Flinders St. It could of been a lot worse considering Federation Square just opposite Flinders St. station is a magnet for tourists. There is also a police station just near the corner where he was doing the donuts in his car, yet on the footage I didn't see any police just those two teenagers trying to stop him.

This type of incident just doesn't happen in Melbourne. As I was telling friends Melbourne is a relatively safe city to walk around, especially down the main streets in the city centre.

Evening all,

Just realised that I've gone past 3000 posts, yeah me. It's only taken 12 yrs. Then again I'm not very active on the site. Have been more so since I gave up work.

Isn't Fed doing well! Could he and Nadal be in the final, that would be amazing considering both guys weren't given a chance.

Nice day in Melbourne town today a little warmer than predicted but nice cool breeze going thru the place.

Have been disposing of things from my work life. The shredder is getting a work out, may need a new one. The poor thing is sounding a bit stressed.

Gratz on >3000.

Celebrating Aust day by killing sheep tomorrow. Have 5 of the blighters to murder, dress and hang in a neighbours cold room. Should fill our freezer for a few months. Not as relaxing as I'd like but the afternoons are cool enough at the moment so needs doing.

What're others doing?

Chinese New Year - dinner with the family.

What're others doing?

I had planned to go down to the foreshore tonight and watch skyfire, but have come down with a kidney infection and am too sore to go anywhere :(
Australia Day will be a quiet one at home, baking a cake and cooking a lamb roast for dinner, and sucking down painkillers and antibiotics.

So, you need a bigger BBQ then.

Nice quiet Australia Day for me. At the moment drinking coffee and taking a re-look at my CD library to reinstate my PC song library. Then later may be video games.

Happy Australia Day or not so happy invasion day which ever way you want to look at it. It's a history we shouldn't shy away from, then again we aren't alone in that.

Saw that Jimmy Barnes received an AO, not bad for an immigrant.

Wonder how many people will take sickies tomorrow? Cricket on tonight, but probably going to watch the tennis.

Current song I'm listening to is 'Three O'clock Blues - BB King and Eric Clapton.
