I think I need to say this. Why did Hillary lose?

Hillary lost because they believed the polls and didn't take into consideration the people that will vote for a man like President Elect Trump but were embarrassed or too weak to admit it.

Period.

No, she lost for may reasons but not what you suggest. What you pointed out is why so many thought she would win.

So a massive amount of white people did the same thing for the same purpose? For two or three hundred fucking years? Is that the same fucking shit?

Nah, fuck that shit. Nice anecdote and I've heard it before, but hey, lemme clue you to this, I'm a fucking person. I'm not black because I'm simply background coloring for your white male world birth-to-death movie that's been running things for white males and you can see an a Obama or a Hillary Clinton popping up as a novelty feature.

Fuck that shit all the fucking way to heaven and hell. Nah, dude.

One of the big lies of American politics, adhered to by the vast majority of conservative posters here, is that everyone who isn't a white male practices "identity politics," while white guys calmly and rationally examine the candidates and their stances, and just happen to overwhelmingly side with the GOP because that's what logic dictates.

Ass hurting my brother from a different mother?

You can thank our board members such as Throb, Luk, Rory, UD, zip, Petey, Adre, and let us not leave out some of the gals, sigh, LadyV, Pookie, etc...,

And I'm sorry if your left-wing feelings are hurt that you did not make this list, but in the aggregate, you did exactly what has been transpiring in the real world. You cannot have polite conversations, gentle debates or mannerly disagreements. You go so quickly negative, you're stupid, you're backwards, you cannot be open-minded, terrified of change, racist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic, Neanderthal, Fascist, NAZI, ad infinitum and then throw in a heaping dose of ridicule.

You never talked any issues, and yet all we ever heard in the wind is the plaint, "Why can't we talk about issues?"

But the Democrats treated the election like a Lit thread. Shout everyone down, be nasty, accuse the candidate of being the equivalent of the bastard offspring of Larry Flint, Jeffrey Dalmer and Adolf Hitler, a man who would start world war three, outlaw abortion, but blacks in chains and deport all Hispanics and Muslims. Never black and white with you.

Ever since 2008, you have told us, if you are white and do not have a college education, you are fucking shit. If you are white, have a college education and are conservative, you are a stupid fucking shit. If you do not follow our social religion, we will ruin you. Shut the fuck up, get into the closet and know when you are licked, defeated and in the ash bin of history.

Well, where did that nastiness get you? Yeah, you put some bakers and photographers out of business, even managed to ruin a few careers. But now, the President, the Senate and the House are in the hands of your enemies. Not only that, but you have delivered a majority of State governments to your enemies. And now, we see, you are going to get even fucking nastier, if that is even possible.

You kept pissing down the backs of your fellow Americans because you thought, thanks to your antics and machinations, that they no longer had a voice in running America, that you were the kings and queens, the vanguard of the future, and telling us it was warm rain.

You were so focused on telling us how evil the Trump was, that you forgot to talk about the issues that your own fucking voters cared about and they stayed home.

Well fucking done.

BRILLIANT!

Exactly.

Lit is yet a small sampling representative of a larger population of liberal antagonists that caused the "silent majority" to keep their opinions to themselves.

You quoted a man who has well over 250,000 posts here.

yes, the petty, content free arguments you idiots have on this dying chat board are of nation shaping importance. this shit matters, damnit!

Well said, Gumpster.

I don't usually watch election returns, but last night was fascinating. The map colors said it all. Rural vs. urban. White collar vs. Blue collar. Conservative vs. liberal. In this battle of the culture war, Johnny Reb won.

I still remember Obama's election night victory when liberals were so giddy that nothing like this could ever happen again. The death of the GOP categorically ruled it out.

Redneck crackers: "Oh, yeah? Watch this."

As someone who resides in the political middle, however, I still have grave reservations about a Trump presidency. IF America is ever going to be great again, we have to figure out how to manifest the discipline and common decency not to marginalize each other.

Nothing about this election indicates that will happen.

Will Democrats mimic the Republicans (McConnell) of 2008 and state that their primary, even only, objective for the next four years is to make Trump a one term President? I did not hear that in Clinton's gracious speech this morning. It does not go unnoticed that the well known eternal victim and not-Republican of the GB used this occasion to lash out at all Litsters with the gall to disagree with him, labeling them impolite and uncivil, even though he is the one who routinely refers to certain females here as fat cunts and bitches. Keeping it classy as always.

it's like god forgave his past, isn't it?

I had a Dewey wins moment this morning when I woke up.
I went to bed at 6 o'clock Arizona time last night.

I found out Trump won from gimpy intellect's thread congratulating him...which I assumed was either an artifact from before the election or a mocking tribute to What Might Have Been. It took me awhile to figure out that he actually won.

It's probably a very good thing that I don't have a TV and went to bed early because that's the kind of election that I would have watched Mlmoment by moment simply because it sounds like it would have been riveting, and it was time to make the donuts at 3 a.m. this morning.

If Trump happens to, even if accidentally, endorse something that's actually a good idea, I hope the Democrats go along.

But otherwise, total opposition is the way to go; the only time the voters punished Republicans for it in the last 8 years was when they nominated Daddy Warbucks for president. And that means, first and foremost, absolutely no help with tough votes such as raising the debt ceiling.

The party that took almost a month to find a new Speaker last fall now gets to run the whole show. I'd enjoy the hell out of it if I wasn't also positive a lot of people are going to get hurt in the process. The repeal of Obamacare alone will kill people, without question.

I watched the whole thing, moment by moment. It was fascinating. Switching between channels was entertaining as hell. The people at MSNBC were fun to watch. Increasingly, as time went on. :D

I am with you on most of what you said but as you know much of what is brought up during elections, especially one as contentious as this one, shows up during a term in office.

What absolute tripe. People were not dying in the streets in a country where it is absolutely mandated the basic Emergency Care be provided regardless of ability to pay. The only thing Obama Care has done is added to the Medicaid rolls and conveniently that portion of the Affordable Care Act expires right as Obama leaves office leaving that shit pile behind for someone else to figure out how to find the funding for the boatloads of federal money. It was offered for only a convenient while-Obama-is-in-office duration.

You got any evidence at all of your gratuitous assertion? Any change at all in the mortality tables? Anything to suggest Obamacare save lives?

The only thing that's changed at all is that people that have nothing have temporarilly have been added in greater numbers to Medicaid, and States that were already rapidly going bankrupt because of Medicaid got a temporary infusion to solve those woes until Obama is out of office.

People who had employer-provided Insurance have less of it. People who have recently become employed post ACA work the mandatory under Obamacare 28 hour work week so they make even less and now they have to pay the penalty making it even harder to afford health care, much less actually be able to afford the unaffordable health insurance.

The whole thing was a very cynical move predicated on the idea that the ratchet effect would work and it course it will. Once an entitlement is granted it can never, politically, be un-granted so Republicans are going to have no choice but to continue to fund Medicaid at those levels. That and only that will be the legacy of Obamacare. Toss in allowing people with pre-existing conditions to go on Medicaid and the entire problem is solved without the huge giveaway to the insurance and drug companies that was Obamacare. Don't kid yourself that it was anything but that.

Were they slapping the sides of their monitors hoping to rattle the vacuum tubes enough to make the picture come in "correctly?"

Instead of a tingle going up Chris Matthews leg there was likely a trickle going down.

Couldn't happen to a nicer group of non-journalists in the tank for the DNC.

I am enjoying the lamentations here and elsewhere from liberals about the Doom and Gloom that is upon us now that we have a liberal in Republicans clothing in the White House.

Interestingly, Chris Matthews was probably the most sensible one of the whole group, after it became clear Trump was going to win. Rachel Maddow was beside herself. Lawrence O'Donnell went berserk. :D

Hillary lost because she's a corrupt pathological liar and a criminal.

That's a short journey for Larry.
