I am the Queen of Cat-Logging this week.

It's mostly catch-up from the last year, donations that I needed to weed through, but I'm definitely adding a bunch to the collection.

The approaching storm has kicked up a cool wind that has activated my Autumn allergies. My head feels like it's in a vice grip. I just want someone to make me tea and rub my head.

Gotcha. Orange pekoe, right?

You won't mind if my fingers roam away from your head during the rubbing to other...ah...areas of your body where you might have further extremities, do you?

For your overall holistic health interests, mind you. ;)

Why have no criminal charges been filed yet, and why both officers? I can't find anything that explains the later.

Heartbreaking seems like such an inadequate word for that tragedy, which was completely avoidable.

The heart breaks, yes, but when I hear about kids left in cars like this and dying, there are also feelings of anger and disdain towards the parents and care providers who buckle the kids in, crack the windows, and just walk away.

That this was a cop made it more newsworthy. That this was a parent makes it reprehensible.

A few weeks ago I had a conversation with a friend of mine, who happens to be a cop. We were discussing those grandparents in Ohio that OD'd in their car about a month or so ago, with their 4 year old snugly secured in his car-seat.
He shared a few personal stories about some horrific, completely avoidable 'accidents' involving kids, all due to an adult's negligence or lack of care, that he has seen while on duty.
It shook him up, just relating these stories.

Some folks are just not worthy or qualified to be responsible for another, dependent life.
It usually goes unchecked, but sometimes even when reported to authorities or children services, the child still ultimately pays the price in some way, from suffering and inexcusable mental and physical pain, up to and including death.

To borrow thør's word, it's sickening.

Spot the difference? The whole of South Australia had no power at all for a bit last week. Towers came down in the storm, and sub stations closed one by one.

Tryfail has been told by the corporate cock he sucks that it was because of green energy initiatives. They conveniently forgot to mention the bastard storm that took out half the power lines in the territory.

Interesting. I thought that utilities had to have back-ups spinning in order to take up the load should wind towers be shut down due to high winds.

We don't have wind turbines here in Alaska on the scale that they are used in many other places. And very few are tied to the railbelt electric grid. Most are village specific or tied to an autonomous micro-grid.
