Ken Barrie has passed away just this month, aged 83. Ken voiced many of the characters on the TV series Postman Pat, and sang the famous theme tune.

Good question. If it was 'thinking', the sound may have been a low hum. Or, perhaps, a bit of a rumble. A friend of mine (who no longer walks among us) used to say that she could tell when I was thinking: There was a melodic clunking sound coming from my head.

My nephew loved Postman Pat and for a few years had a toy cat called 'Jess'. One of his proudest moments was when his parents came down to collect a sofa we were giving them, and he was "allowed" (!) to sit in the front of the cab all the way home with Jess the cat, singing those words in a charming and inarticulate voice (he has a cleft palate, among other things).
