Mid afternoon question:

Expectations. We all have them, and we tend to "life or die" by them. And having low expectations really doesn't work as we know in the back of our minds we set them low. But when met or exceeded do you tend to raise your level of expectations? Should you?

I'm constantly raising my expectations. I don't get too disappointed if they're not met, as I enjoy the challenge of the hunt.

I believe expectations are resentments waiting to happen... I have hopes, and goals, but I try as much as possible to have zero expectations.

I don't do expectations. I let stuff happen and appreciate it as it comes.

I didn't have expectations in my last relationship. ...I now have plenty...and I'm going to hold out.

When I have an expectation, I'm allowing someone else's words or actions to dictate my experience. I am basically giving them my power, and saying "I'll feel ABC if they do XYZ."

I have hopes and dreams. I have goals. I have faith. I have values and, conversely, behaviors I find unacceptable. I have boundaries.

But I'm the one who pursues my hopes, dreams, and goals. That's on me. And I'm the one who enforces my boundaries, decides if my values are being tread upon, and takes care of myself when confronted with unacceptable behaviors.

I am no doormat.

My brain is an amusement park of imagination. It has a Ferris Wheel and a Merry-Go-Round... And then it has a Gravitron, a Tower of Terror, a Pirate Ship... Fireworks and Parades... Virtual Reality... IMAX 3D... Inverted, suspended, steel rollercoasters :)

And I like all the rides. Each has their own specific draw.

Where's the fuckin teeter totter? Just point it out to me, I'll handle the rest.

When you see someone excelling at something, such that it makes you watch, does it ever inspire you to pursue a dream? Whether it's an athletic feat, a musical performance or maybe a home project, do you observe and want to go do your thing or do you see, enjoy and then move along?

This makes me think of the first time I saw a stripper climb a pole, live.....

I was so enamored i bought a couple lap dances just so I could pick her brain - asking for tips... She showed me a few moves... Recommended some sparkly berry scented lotion... ;) I brought all the knowledge home. Added it to my bag of tricks. Money well spent.

It depends what I'm seeing. Sometimes I enjoy and then move along. However there's one person in town who makes me slap myself. She runs a business and I think...Ruby. .get off your but and start doing your thing. If she can...you can.
