Oh Yes!
This record tor through the Disco of my youth. Listen.

Pancakes ? %This must be something particularly American. Try buttered toast !

I still haven't sussed what a Granola Bar is.
But after trying it once, I will consign breast milk to the Baby. :)

No PANCAKES?!!! Are you pulling my leg? On Sunday morning, I make pancakes for the family. It's a thick crepe.

Ingredients
1 egg
1 cup of buttermilk (or soured milk using 1 cup of milk mixed with 1 tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice for ten minutes)
1 tablespoon of maple syrup (or sugar)
2 tablespoons of olive oil or other light flavored oil
1 cup of flour (I prefer white whole wheat)
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of baking powder
(Check Google for conversions.)

Scoop onto a moderately hot griddle or cast iron fry pan, well greased, by 1/4 to 1/3 cup scoops. Cook on one side until bubbles in the middle pop and stay open, then flip and cook another thirty seconds.

Voila, pancakes.

No PANCAKES?!!!

...

Voila, pancakes.

Thank you so much! :) I have been looking about for a thick pancake recipe, as I have been going for many years by Mrs Beeton's recipe - which makes thin pancakes.

In return, I offer my personal pain-au-chocolat recipe:

One bake-in-the-oven baguette
Butter
A stick of your favourite chocolate

Bake baguette according to instructions on packet. While it's still hot, butter it. Stick a line of chocolate inside it and eat it :p

This is also very nice with a fresh, cold baguette.

Welcome. Damn, now I have to get a decent baguette somewhere.

Oh Lord, is there no way to prevent the USA cooking and so on creeping into England?
I looked on the and found dozens; and few if any that resembled the ones I drooled over on Shrove Tuesday at my Mum's table.

Well, perhaps, one day. . .

Oh darling! I will come and cook you some of my pancakes - they are just like the ones Mum used to make, I'm sure of it. We can put lemon and sugar on them. And maybe a dash of something extra to make them zing.

I also do Dutch oven pancakes with apple. :) They are marvelous.

But for Handley, I would make my English muffin bread that's perfect for toasting up crunchy and slathering with butter.
