Sex. The age old question, physical activity or act of love? Can it be both? should it be both? Or do we cheapen it by turning it into a physical craving selfishly pursued for our own pleasures?

One or the other and at times both. All of the above.

And yes, a person's needs can change from one encounter to another. Unless you are incredibly naive or rather newbish to sex, likely you know this.

A good question is what do you need or want and how accomodating and friendly are you to help fulfill that in others?

I think it also depends somewhat on choice of your partner, your communication level, and your own motivation will decide whether it is 'cheapened' I think.

What defines cheapened?

One night stands? Prostitution? Shitty communication? Nature of the relationship? If you have a fuckbuddy are you using each other? Is that clear between each other? A ton of questions come to mind with that. We are on Lit? Does cyber fit in that equation somewhere?

Also? If there is a fuck up with attitude or circumstance, in an encounter, is there room to recover and keep open lines of communication?

I look at sex kind of like dancing. In any dance with a partner (s) one must lead and generally the other follows......or does not.

Funny this one hasn't gained much traction yet. I'll play.

For me it's always been easy to separate sex from love. And very elusive to combine the two.

In fact, I'd say I popped my love makin' cherry pretty recently, with my BF, who was also a love makin' virgin. Kinda nice to be this far along in life and still be able to share sexual firsts with someone.

So I guess my answer is similar to MrT's. All of the above. Sometimes. ;)

And a good, solid fuck buddy, online or otherwise, one you really jive with, and are on the same page with? Not easy to come by. Not cheap. That takes some effort to establish! When that shit's good? It's fucking great.

And what's wrong with one night stands? They're cheap too? I don't believe so. For me, most of them were along the lines of dying of thirst --> gulp down a drink --> move on and work on finding steady water supply. :)

Communication and expectation. And time.

Dont take for granted the opportunities of today.

One day, your existence may be one where its been decades with no one to plunder your shabby old carcass or desire too. Then what? Memories and coulda beens?

I realize, of course, easier said than done. Just something to keep in mind?

Sir, are you flirting with me? ;)

I agree with others that it can be both or either. Whatever the activity, the important thing for me is that it's fun for both (or all of) the partners. I wouldn't appreciate, say, a grudging display of love.

Incidentally, I believe that a common sense of humour is vital. Not every sexual activity goes to plan or expectation (at least, not for me!) and it's healthy to be able to share a few giggles. That hilarity together when things go wrong can be just as strong a bonding activity as the physical pleasure when things go right. :)

I like it. Good stuff.

To me sex is part of connecting on whatever level. Sometimes it's deep and emotional, sometimes it's more friendly "Hey, you're fun, let's bone!"

Really it's just all about being real and honest and being on the same page. If it's like that I don't think it's selfish at all.

Everybody up!!!! No sense wasting your Saturday sleeping. It's summer time and there's stuff to do. Get up & get after it! Nothing more annoying than a "peppy" person early on a Saturday morning. Or would you rather lay around watching infomercials and reality TV? Fess up, what was the last thing you bought from an infomercial? A Sham-wow? A Foreman grill? And if you came across a secret infomercial would you be prompted to buy one after seeing it's amazing success played out right before your eyes?

Saturday morning peppy people should be shot on sight.

I've never bought anything from an infomercial directly. But my local mall used to have an "As Seen on TV" store and I bought a Ped Egg from there once. Still have it. Still use it. Works REALLY well.

Nein! You must stay on zee couch until vee have zycho-analized, all your personality defects to the last decimal! Now! Tell us about your muhzer...
 I'm being psychoanalysed by a Freudian wolf? *draws red cloak tighter around me*

There's no need for peppy people any morning. Plus, it's winter here, and nighttime - and I'm lazy. And I don't think I've ever bought anything from an infomercial.

Spring, summer, fall .... I am an annoyingly peppy morning person. I open every single window in the house, then start my day. Coffee, dogs, a brisk walk, chores .... all before 10 am. Morning air is the best. It's refreshing and invigorating .... I just don't see the point in letting such a beautiful part of the day go to waste. I prefer to save my lazy bone ways for winter.

My first and only infomercial purchase - Luminess Air. Which is not that easy is to use and messy as can be.

Anyone ever buy a Shaun T workout video?

Neither. Sleazy motel off the interstate.

*laughs*

That's something I would say....

:D

I like to take advantage of my whole day...but I try not to be peppy in anyone's face. For example...today...I've just help move and entire theatre department....all done and home before 1. Now...if I want to be lazy fir the rest if today, I feel I deserve it....but the beach is calling me.....

I think how I get up and around depends on the time of year. In the spring and summer, I'm up early, sometimes 6am. In the winter, I can lay in bed till noon, just chatting or reading or cuddling with the dog.

Informercial - well I haven't bought anything from an infomercial. But I saw this XL Electric Pressure Cooker and liked the idea so much, I went and researched and found (of course) that it was a piece of crap. I bought an Instant Pot instead, and this is one of those kitchen things that I use ALL THE TIME.

Since I started eating paleo/clean, I've been using it to make homemade refried beans, hard-boiled eggs, baked potatoes and veggies, rice, hummus, soups and stews, and meat so tender it's amazing. I've even made cheesecake. It doesn't heat up the house and takes a fraction of the time that it would otherwise.

I don't relate to "peppy." If I'm up, then I'm up. I don't require a morning warm up nor coffee before I am functional. That said, I despise people who try to conduct business at 6 or 7am. It's not because I'm still tired or sleepy, it's just rude.

One day is the same as any other to me. Saturday or Monday, no difference in how I wake up or move about.

I haven't ever purchased a product from an infomercial. That said, I have purchased products that are sold in a retail store that advertise "as seen on TV." I don't generally fall for hype they use to sell products on TV, most of it is bullshit. If it seems like a generally good product, I'm not against purchasing it, but not through an infomercial. For instance, I bought a Billy Blanks Tae Bo workout video.

heh heh

A good friend of mine is also a peppy morning person. But, her wake up time is also everyone else's. I think there's a way to be up and about without disturbing the rest of the house.

I can't help that I wake up lively and in a good mood most mornings, even on weekdays, at the office at 7 am .... if it's annoying, that's the consequence of deciding to be up early with me .... however, at no time, am I rude and wake people up or expect someone who is living/staying with me to feel or be the same way.

I agree with this completely. 😊

I get to my office between 6-6.30 am usually, and even earlier when we're so busy I run a night shift. I get so much more done in those first few hours before the phone starts ringing at 9 am. But I'm not bouncing around full of energy and chatting. In fact, I prefer the solitude of being the only one awake in the house before I leave for work, and therefore not having to interact with anyone.

Raises hand: I'm an peppy lady in the morning. Not the annoying type. More like smiling, music playing, maybe some dancing in the kitchen while making coffee and looking through my day.
Not sure if it's a info commercial item, but the Scrub Daddy was such an awesome find.
What ever happened to Saturday morning cartoons? Man, if the Smurfs were still on or Yogi Bear. ;)

Right, what did happen to Saturday morning cartoons????

I liked the Smurfs, but I also liked Dungeons and Dragons. And Scooby doo, though NOT Scrappy too. Clue Club was pretty cool and Thundarr the Barbarian.

I miss scheduled TV. On Saturday afternoons There was some martial arts entertainment shows on (edit: black belt theater) and after that, Chiller Theater.

Nowadays, if you missed a program on one day, you just tivo it to another day.

Saturday morning cartoons got replaced by Wrestling, and infomercials.

edit: I just found out why Jackie Chan out shone Alexander Fu Sheng (usually credited as "John Wang" (John Wayne, get it? who Fu Sheng very much emulated)). Fu Sheng was better at acrobatics and was a better actor in kung fu movies than Jackie Chan, who has never really changed. Alexander Fu Sheng died in a car wreck in 1983. He was 29.

I've been fooled by an infomercial once, when I was 15 or so. It was a product called NADS. It wasn't anything weird, fuckers. It was a hair removal product from Australia. I should have known better!!!!

So I used this stuff to wax my chest when I was a Pteen. On the infomercial some guy sits there and gets hair ripped off his legs like it was nothing. Well fuck me sideways... He must have been numbed up. Because it hurt like hell. I thought I was going to cry.

It was a sad day when I realized TV lied to me

20-30 years from now kids will look back at these times and wax poetically about how good 2016 was. We tend to look back with nostalgia and ahead with angst.

What part of today will you look back on and remember how good it was?

My children being young and eager to learn and experience things for the first time. I'll wax poetic about their blunders and their innocence.
