Philando Castile

Yanez's lawyer is contending that Yanez commanded Castile not to move and that when Castile moved anyway, Yanez reacted to “the presence of that gun and the display of that gun"...

If evidence surfaces to clearly support that contention, then Yanez will not be indicted.

If I remember correctly, the woman in the video clearly states to the officer that he approved Castile going for his wallet...

If evidence surfaces to clearly support that contention, then Yanez will probably be indicted for reckless homicide.

Incredible, the whiny anti-gun nuts are now whining the other way when a black man owns a gun, wow, you people are hilarious.

The NRA are assholes for defending guns rights, now assholes for not defending it

what's it like to have to live your life by whichever way the wind blows?

You know, I haven't heard what it was the cop kept saying to her, and the transcript just says "expletive". I'm going to assume he was saying "nigger nigger nigger" until somebody proves otherwise.

Yikes
That's a big assumption.

94 was shut down by protesters.

As many as 200 protesters were blocking both the eastbound and westbound lanes of the major traffic artery connecting Minneapolis and St. Paul near the Lexington exits. Many sat on the freeway while others stood, the air filled with yelling and chanting. Some onlookers were climbing over the freeway fence to join the blockade, with the crowd swelling to an estimated 300 people filling the lanes in both directions.

Does it make sense to you, under the circumstances of being pulled over, that someone holding a valid permit to carry wouldn't tell a cop he had a permit and was carrying?

Unless he was driving a car that was registered to someone else, the officer should have had the information that he was a CCL holder if he ran his plates before even stepping up for this allegedly routine traffic stop.

Assuming that's correct, it's another excellent reason the public should be informed officially as to whether the victim held a valid CCL or not.

Seeing as no word has come out that he didn't have one, and numerous reports have said that he did, I'll assume that he did for now.

If he didn't have a CCL, the police certainly would have announced that by now to save face. They haven't. There would be no reason for them to withhold that information if he didn't have a CCL.

I find it strange there has been no official statement on the question.

Maybe the police there are strapped for cash and drive patrols in Car 54, Where Are You?-era vehicles with knob radios instead of hi-tech broadband computer look-up systems.

I have heard it, he was saying "fuck!" repeatedly.

It's far short of an official statement, but the Star Tribune did get confirmation.

Philando Castile had a valid permit to carry a gun when he was shot and killed by a St. Anthony police officer, a source confirmed to the Star Tribune Friday.

You would think, after being stopped 52 times, he would be better at it by now.

That's true for this case.

Unfortunately, in Maine, Arizona, Kansas, Wyoming, Alaska, and Vermont— no permit is required to carry a concealed handgun.

Why is that unfortunate?

Can the police not be trusted to keep their fingers off the trigger of their side-arms?

Feel free to ask them when you request they make all permit holders names public. I am sure they will jump at the chance to easy your worried mind.

The 217,000 names of people who have permits to carry is not public information. Therefore, it is not in fact known if Castile really did have a permit. Public Safety Commissioner Mona Dohman would not confirm that information because it is part of the official investigation.

I don't know why I bother.

Contrast that with the way the Dallas Police were keeping the peace just before the shootings

I'm not sure if the smoke bombs were used before or after an officer was injured by a flying bottle. People were on an over pass throwing things at the police.

I have heard it, he was saying "fuck!" repeatedly.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say he was being sarcastic with his wild assumptions.

I don't know how many times I have to say an unnamed source is not what is needed. Something official from authorities is needed.

An 'authority' shot and killed him. Why would they be in a rush to paint the victim in a positive light?

If he wasn't a CCL holder, they'd have announced it within hours.
