Well, the first day on the new job is in the books.


I think that it went pretty well, except for all of the heat. That will only get worse as the week goes on.


They invited me back tomorrow, so I guess that I'll go.

Seems the motor on the central air went out. What a miserable night I spent trying to sleep. Oh well, it will get fixed later this morning, thank goodness we also have a window unit upstairs or we would have been sweltering in the 90s...

Happy Wednesday!!! I slept okay and am up kinda early for another big day of assessing what work we have and what we have to do to get it done. I may have to buy a newer and better digital camera soon, because part of what I do is going to be taking lots of pictures of things in progress. Roofs, especially, since it's hard to tell how it was done by looking at the finished product.


It's hot as Hell this week, and one of my primary duties will be to be out in it. Hydrate times three.


Oddly, if I keep the upstairs in this house conditioned, the downstairs stays bearable, unless it's Allah-hot outside.

I have a super good camera...



It is gathering dust. What you may actually need is a phone upgrade.

When I purchased the camera, it was heads and (cat) tails above anything my phone could do. My phone is three years newer than the camera and it puts it to shame. Plus you can send all of your pictures/clips to the cloud. The cloud is a wonderful thing, it is bringing rain every day this week.

It's Day Three of New Job, and so far so good. I still have all of the new hire paperwork to fill out, and today might well be the day that I can get it done. I've started at the beginning of a pay period, so my first check will be a full one, unless I lose Monday to a technicality, which is possible. I'll consider myself lucky if I don't.


My insurance will be, for a two-week period, half of what I was paying for less at the last job, per week. That'll be an improvement.


They gave me an iPhone, so it's got a camera with it which, after further review, will be probably more than adequate for almost all that I have to do, I think. I hope. I'll ask directions.

At my last service renewal/upgrade, they had an iPhone for very cheap as an offering. I took it . . .


because it was the same model that the ex-g/f had, and I kinda needed some help to show me how the damned thing worked. I've rather gotten used to its quirkiness now.


I had an android for the last job and didn't like it very much. The battery lives much longer, but otherwise, no. I'm glad that I don't have to relearn.


But there are a couple of bugs in it, for no good reason. We'll see . . . .

There were no sons of Allah today, but there was plenty of sunshine and an assload of heat to go along with it. Son of a bitch!!! I got to stay inside for a chunk of the day and finish doing my new hire paperwork.


My Barrycare will cost not quite $80 every two weeks (when we get paid) as compared to the neary $110 I was paying at my previous employer. Every week. For less coverage. And no vision.


So a woman in Sam's Club tells me about the guy she saw all dressed in black desert gard walking down the side of the road carrying some sign. She was afraid she'd get rear-ended if she stopped to read it. But she felt the need to express how fucked up she thought this was, and she decided to tell me. So I listened. She looked good, so maintaining eye contact was a piece of pie.
