The birthmonth phone calls and visits are such fun.
A friend from high school days on reminded me the other day of how he used to tease me with the Stones "Start Me Up" -- "you'd make a dead man come..."

How can someone sit perfectly straight in a chair and read? That's just plum uncomfortable.

Well I do sit upright in this recliner. It's the only seat in the house sized for a short person. The men in my family are a foot taller than me. And the lower back support is a treat.

I'm just plain odd. I sit on the floor when I read - and the cats cuddle up to my feet and/or legs. I love sitting on the ground outside and read. I discovered last year I can sit in an Adirondack chair - at Lake Placid - and read. That's as close as Catholic school sitting as I can get.

I sit upright on the floor, too. Occasionally on the ground. But I also enjoy wooden chairs. Especially my rocker. And I don't consider it mortification of the flesh! HA. In my family of origin, the rocker was the matriarch's seat. A place of honor.

My wife received a rocker as a high school graduation present. Right now, it's in the living room, a granny-square comforter on it - a present from my mom the first Christmas we were just dating - and if you dare sit in it, the cats will kick you off! LOL

Being a dog woman [I prefer to be worshipped by a pet, rather than serve one] , I'd just sweep them off and take over. HA. I'm bad about cats. Sorry to you who love them...

I'd prefer dogs, but the house and yard are too small for the type of dog I'd like to have. Plus, the wife is a cat person.

As a person who was built a bit too close to the ground, I can appreciate what you say about chairs. That looks like a Scandinavian Ekornes as I have one myself, -the only armchair I own that doesn't cut into my calf.

No bra marks ever. Only occasionally, I wear a tank or cami, but mostly I leave the girls free under my clothes.

It's oak. I bought it to replace a rocking chair my maternal grandmother had given me when my first baby was born. That same child later broke one of the spindles in the back of that first rocker. So I bought a new one and went with flattened slats and more comfortable arms than the classic rocker my grandmother had chosen. It's quite comfortable. She always had cushions on both the seat and back of the chair. I like to have more of a sense of the wood.
