We are in a heavily-forested remote Sierra Nevada mountain hamlet, downhill a bit from Lake Tahoe. It's half-past midnight and raining heavily here at 3500 ft / 1050m elevation. Thick snow uphill; we'll likely be unable to drive over 9000 ft / 2700m Kit Carson Pass tomorrow. The neighborhood black bear has not yet emerged from hibernation to rifle through rubbish bins. The nudists down our dirt access road are staying indoors. Coincidence, or... ??

I am watching the crime and investigation channel - a few shows are on that I like. At the moment is A stranger is in my home. Luckily I haven't seen this episode, lol. I tend to binge watch a lot of these, lol. kinda like my Netflix.

Thats pretty cool. I am not really a fan of where I live as I would prefer more culture but looking outside over the garden and watching many cats congregate is pretty fun to watch.

Hello Louise! I'm currently on assignment in Amsterdam. Tomorrow I'm flying stateside, Los Angeles, overseeing the transporting of the corpse of a dead diamond smuggler. His body cavity is filled with the South African blood diamonds he was trying to sell, of course we've switched the real diamonds for fakes. When I get to LA I'll meet a CIA contact, who is also an old friend, who I'll drive with to Las Vegas after having assumed the identity of the dead smuggler. My boss thinks that the diamonds are being stockpiled and an attempt will be made to depress the world economy. Several known diamond smugglers have been killed and their holdings stolen. Since I've assumed the identity of this known diamond smuggler I'm positioned to draw out the people responsible and expose this conspiracy. It all starts with the fake diamonds that we've set up as bait, and me of course stuck right on the tip of the spear. The plan will be for someone working for this smuggling ring to intercept the body and steal our fake diamonds. It's possible they will know the dead smuggler - which would blow my cover - but I'm not typically too concerned with maintaining it. It should be just another week at the office for me, but I suspect an old enemy is at the root of all of this. A guy I thought I'd killed for good but who has a habit of turning up, annoyingly so.
