The percentage of American college students who are Hispanic, Asian/Pacific Islander, Black, and American Indian/Alaska Native has been increasing. From 1976 to 2012, the percentage of Hispanic students rose from 4 percent to 15 percent, the percentage of Asian/Pacific Islander students rose from 2 percent to 6 percent, the percentage of Black students rose from 10 percent to 15 percent, and the percentage of American Indian/Alaska Native students rose from 0.7 to 0.9 percent. During the same period, the percentage of White students fell from 84 percent to 60 percent.

In another chapter of the ongoing suppression of free speech and expression across university and college campuses via the expansion of leftism, a student of Harvard University joined Fox News Channel’s Megyn Kelly to share several revealing anecdotes. With stories highlighting students seemingly incapable of tolerating opposing views on the morality of abortion or the display of the American flag, Rachel Huebner added to the growing index of incidents illustrating the advancement of left-wing political culture on campuses nationwide.

In an incident in which a student was offended by the American flag, Huebner recalled the story of a friend, who was stopped by his roommate from hanging Old Glory on a wall in their residence apartment.

“My friend, who’s a freshman, on the first day of college took out an American flag from his suitcase, and his roommate stopped him, saying that the presence of the flag on the wall was a political statement that he was unwilling to make,” said Huebner.

In another incident, a female student’s request to not be seated across from anyone opposing abortion was seemingly indulged by many classmates and the attending professor.

A university student was threatened with being thrown out of a meeting after being accused of violating “safe space” rules – by raising her hand.

Imogen Wilson, the vice-president for academic affairs at Edinburgh University Students’ Association (EUSA), spoke out against safe space rules becoming “a tool for the hard left to use when they disagree with people”, following the incident last week.

Ms Wilson, 22, was subject to a “safe space complaint” over her supposedly “inappropriate hand gestures” during a student council meeting.

“Safe space is essential for us to have a debate where everyone can speak, but it can’t become a tool for the hard left to use when they disagree with people.”

According to the association’s rules, student council meetings should be held in a “safe space environment”, defined as “a space which is welcoming and safe and includes the prohibition of discriminatory language and actions”.

This includes “refraining from hand gestures which denote disagreement”, or “in any other way indicating disagreement with a point or points being made”.

“Disagreements should only be evident through the normal course of debate,” it says.

Ms Wilson said she raised her arms in disagreement after being accused by another speaker of failing to respond to an open letter, despite in fact having made efforts to contact the letter’s authors.

They may be flooding caucus rooms across the country, but Donald Trump supporters at NYU keep their heads down, mouths shut and their correspondence secret.

Lying in class about their political beliefs and keeping online conversations strictly private are typical precautions taken by The Donald’s badly outnumbered followers on campus.

“Supporters generally try to keep it hidden from the rest of the student body,” said junior Dylan Perera, 22. “They’re afraid of losing friends, being ridiculed in class, getting worse grades and are even afraid of being assaulted and physically hurt.”

The computer-science major from LA said he was verbally accosted by a student who had asked about his affiliation.

“She freaked out and started yelling and screaming in my face, calling me a racist and a fascist. It was impossible to even have a conversation,” he said.

Another student was so concerned about being outed as a Trump supporter that he reserved a private room on campus — for “security reasons” — to speak to a Post reporter. He recalled being ostracized by his “radical social-justice warrior” roommates. “Their hatred towards me started escalating after we had a few political discussions,” he said.

As Trump spoke during a televised GOP debate he was watching, his roommates drowned out the candidate by playing an anti-Trump video on their computer at maximum volume.

“Either you’re on their side or you’re a racist f–k, in their eyes,” the student said. “I’ve learned just to bottle up [my response]” to such antagonizing.

The anonymous, 21-year-old Princeton, NJ, native said he was unmasked as a Trump supporter by a professor Friday, even after he had specifically asked in an e-mail that the teacher not bring up his political views.

“He was explaining what platitudes are to the class, and he brought up Trump as an example. How him saying, ‘I’m great,’ is a platitude,” he recalled. “It got a big laugh from the class and then he looked right at me and said, ‘Sorry, I had to get one in.’”

The singled-out student said he was “ freaking out and trying to play it cool and then said something like, ‘What are you looking at me for?’”

He said he fears being “shunned or attacked,” calling both “equally degrading.”

Disaffected Trumpers on the famously liberal 57,000-student campus have begun to gather in undetectable ways, through Facebook and in one-on-one meet-ups.
