#SuperTuesday: Searches for 'How can I move to Canada?' spike

The number of Google searches for "how can I move to Canada" increased dramatically on Super Tuesday, as Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump scored big wins in the race to the White House.

Simon Rogers, a data editor at Google, reported the observation on Twitter Tuesday night, ' Searches for "how can I move to Canada" on Google have spiked +350% in the past four hours #SuperTuesday'.

That 350 per cent spike was just the beginning, though. A journalist with Mashable saw an even greater increase just minutes later in excess of 1000%.

Another Twitter user noticed an error message appearing on the website of Citizenship and Immigration Canada suggesting greater than normal traffic.

Never one to miss out on a social media trend, Toronto Coun. Norm Kelly scored more than 34,000 retweets with this post, 'To all my American followers tweeting at me tonight, here's the link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/apply.asp …'.

Comments:

This is actually kind of funny. Someone also needs to provide those Americans the links on our gun policies. They might change their minds.

How about we do a swap with our dark blue conservatives and the progressive U.S. citizens?

sure........ move to Canada and bring all your self created problems here........... NOTHANKS, id prefer the Syrians thanks

Sure, why not. 25,000 Syrian refugees followed now by a bunch of USA refugees. I wonder if the Canadian Government will put the USA refugees through the same screening process as the Syrian refugees.

There's fantasy and there's reality. Hey get real, the grass isn't greener here, it's covered by 4 feet of snow. Which oddly, is an accurate metaphor describing our performance, livelihood, career options. Like the Eagles song, you can get in but never get out. In-between the two, you may make ends meet, on the other end of affordability. Some advice, stay put. Have experienced both, Canada and US. You not going to like the lack of options here. Of course, if you want to work at all.

We need to build a wall. A great wall. I'd ask Trump to pay for it but it seems that most of his ventures fail...

You could require that they all settle in the Northwest Territories.

In early days immigrants always went to frontier lands looking for land. With service based economies just establishing infrastructure could attract workers. If NW Passage becomes ice free will be huge transportation route. We could build a Mexico North of 60. Nice short shipping routes to Asia and Europe. Send oil lines north not south.

Natives will have to be talked with. They are pretty much the only ones up there beyond a few miners.

Yanks don't assimilate well into other cultures well though. Would hate to see the native majority discriminate against the Yank refugees. :) Hey Alannis...?

Many don't even assimilate in the US. Move from the suburbs and cities to get away from the rat race then bitch about the smell of manure and tractors on the roads.

It would be nice if we could send Canada a few million degenerates.....

Then we could laugh a Soft_Rom even more than we do now.
