I know, I know, in this age of textspeak and email, letters have become quite a thing of the past.

Well, not really.

There are some few of us who enjoy penning a letter, from the tactility of the stationery and the sound the fountain pen (if you're going to go old school, go old school, right?) gliding across, transferring your thoughts from mind to paper, to the fun of sending it on its way, to be seen with delight at the destination. Not to mention seeing a personal missive amongst the bills and spam in the mailbox, that is always a welcome sight!

Additionally, as it is winter, letters are nice in that they work without power, won't be lost due to a server glitch and can be carried around wherever you go, to be read wherever you are, should you so wish it.

Are there any lovely ladies who would enjoy starting a discourse? We can discuss whatever excites you, be it the weather, the price of cheese, or how to take a good picture of you in a corset, the sky is the limit. ;)

If you've read this far, congrats! Hope to hear from you...

Letters are a beautiful thing. They are now becoming, sadly a lost art of communication that was once held with the greets regard..

There are stories of this e who traveled out west waiting anxiously for mail. The Pony Express was a legendary force of riders who would ride day and night to get the mail out west.

Unfortunately, for some mail was not affordable. They would be left with only the feeling of the letter in their hands or the scent of it.

I love writing letters (pen to paper). Sadly, I don't get the opportunity much anymore. Christmas time is about the only chance I get; when I send out cards, I try to right something, a page or two to people, especially if I don't get to see them too often. Everyone wants to do email. I know it's more convenient, and faster. But the excitement of reaching into the mailbox, and pulling out an envelope with a return address you immediately recognize. You can't hurry fast enough to get inside to open it and start reading.

Exactly, that little thrill is such a nice surprise, especially when the day hasn't been the best.

I find writing in longhand very meditative, relaxing in the slow and steady 'skritch' and knowing the recipient will enjoy reading as much as I enjoyed writing. A true win-win. :)

A bump for the new year and for the practices of an earlier age...

I do love to write letters. It would be nice to have a proper excuse to use my dip pen, ink, and wax seal!
