This is my interpretation of what happened.

Pete was whispering sweet nothings into multiple girls' ears. Fine enough. But apparently he was sending the same girls the same messages. He went on telling them all the exact same things. But some of these girls were friends and they talked. And started putting two and two together and some of the girls were really hurt. He got caught and ran with his tail tucked between his legs.

I dislike him for a slightly different reason.

I've always thought he was a cunt and it has nothing to do with his Jailhouse like antics.
