A simple question today, and feel free to provide as much or as little detail as you wish. Is/was your current/recent Lit relationship more than you expected or less. The key word is expected as that varies from person to person and from relationship to relationship.

My answer is more. I honestly don't ever have expectations going in as experience has taught me those expectations are always way off. But having said that its always the quality of the person involved. And i do mean the quality of the whole person.....

Hey, look at me, I answered my own question. Runs to find a gold star to proudly wear ;)

Yikes!

Tres personnel.

More. Admittedly my pool of experience is quite limited, but definitely more. And my expectations are high. Way, way, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay high. :cattail:

I would agree about the quality of the person involved, though that probably means vastly different things to different people. For me, similar play goals are a deal breaker.

With thread-based relationships it's humour that always catches my attention or they show themselves to be knowledgeable about a topic I'm interested in and people seldom disappoint. If ever a relationship disappoints, it's usually because my fault for reading too much into their comments or not paying enough attention.

Papa Chained! I'm happy to see you started this thread back. Maybe it has been going for a while. But I just now saw it. All this answering your own questions makes me wonder if it's the real Papa, though.

Expectations can be tough. One person sees through their life lens and the other sees through theirs. It's hard enough to get these things to line up in flesh and blood, even more so when your primary means of connection is black and white text. I find that interactions here with fewer expectations and emotional attachments make life much easier.

More huh? Interesting.

Same....

My expectations are somewhat based on the initial approach and introduction.
Doing a quick mental run through of a few present and past relationships/friendships/plays.

It's nice to see some familiar and new faces showing back up around these parts. Welcome one, welcome all the the greatest.....whoops, forgot I'm not the ringleader at the circus, just a guy posting questions....(and a few lipstick pics ;) )

Watching threads start, seeing some take off and others not go anywhere, I'm constantly fascinated. I've learned I can't predict the popularity of threads(unless there's boobs in them  ). So which thread surprised you when it didn't take off? Which thread surprises you that it's still going?

(Note: I'm just realizing I posted a question not all that long ago that may be very similar to this, I don't think it's exact. But I'm this far down the road, so deleting and thinking of a new question just isn't that appealing. Yeah, call me lazy ;) )

Thanks for the welcome, Papa Chained!!!!

I agree. It is odd to see what threads take off and what threads don't. Here, it seems that if it's a game, a thread where a guy can say he wants to fuck a girl or a thread started by a girl, it will take off for sure. All other threads remain to be a mystery.

The GB is even more odd. Some of the threads that take off there are just so random. But they rarely take off for the original intent of the thread. It's usually because someone is dumb as a sack of shit and they post something really daft.

I am always surprised that some of the game threads are still going, mainly because there appears to be so little interaction with them. But what do I know?

P!!!!! Ooops! I mean, Lord P! :) *curtsies deeply*

I have no idea what makes threads take off. Some of the word/game threads surprise me as well. Especially the ones that fall into a repetitive cycle.

Occasionally it's just a matter of posters attracted to the thread. There's a thread I frequent whose activity varies wildly. It can move five pages in no time flat, or it can lie practically moribund for days.

The GB is it's own special haven of odd. I've never seen a group of people who like to argue and slang insults quite so much just for argument and insults sake.

I'm regularly baffled by the popularity (or not) of threads. I won't name specific examples, but I find the "Say a random word" type of threads vacuous and uninteresting; they seem only to be vehicles for increasing post counts without offering any insight into the people posting, and yet they remain so popular that several near-identical ones are on the go at any given time.

On the other hand, I find it almost heartbreaking when someone conceives a brilliant idea for a new thread that is inclusive, fun, and offers great opportunities for people to get to know each other better, but which falls by the wayside quickly because it isn't adopted widely and quickly gets knocked off the front page of the forum group by the inane threads.

Dunno... maybe I'm a snob.

*Nods in agreement*
Some discussion threads go on for several pages but the same arguments get thrown up again because people don't bother to read what has gone before.
Then there the people who'll revive a thread that has been dormant for five years - those are ridiculous. I saw one the other day where someone was offering advice to someone who originally posted in 2011:rolleyes:
The 'hosted' threads can have legs provided the OP is well known, so those would the ones I'd put money on.

I agree with this. Every so often you see a thread that has some smarts to it. And it gets eaten up by some other game thread. I'm not saying those threads suck donkey balls. I mean, they do. But I'm not saying that. I'm just saying, it sucks to see a funny and legit thread lose to something mindless.

It's like seeing someone choose Family Guy over Arrested Development. Or Nickelback over anything else.

I agree with you, but what's to be done? If threads get overrun by wannabe cocksuckers or tell me what makes you hot threads, then all we can do is post on the good threads and they stay on your subscribed list. You can't deny its the popular threads that stay at the top and of course 'the people must be right' ... But at lot of people are asshats ;)

Ps, my meds are good :D

There will be no "cocksuckers" or "what makes you hot" derailments around here.
