Back to the thread topic, I agree with most, it is good to respond when pms are cordial. It is hard when they are not.

I do agree that is generally polite to at least send a quick response. Sometimes, however, people get caught up with other things or forget. Generally if I send a pm it's because I wanted to tell someone I find them funny/witty/sexy... I don't expect a response, nor do I feel entitled to one.
