Had To Expect Something Like This.

Ammo in a vending machine. Whats the big deal?

Most of the rest of the world understandably finds the generally ridiculously easy availability of weapons in the US beyond comprehension. That's the big deal.

We're doing our best to become an armed shit hole.

No, those do-gooders trying to recreate a mythical Eden avidly strive to disarm the population in order to eliminate opposition to grand and great government. What they have actually accomplished is to cause the citizenry to go on a gun-buying spree with an eye towards a future when gun sales and ammunition sales are not banned, but simply regulated to the point of impossibility.

The German socials state tightened up gun ownership regulation and required universal registration. Hitler used those lists to track down his armed opposition and heat-packing Jews.

There are a lot of "normal" people in the US that have legitimate reasons for wanting a gun. They are hunters and the like, for whom having a gun is no different then having a hammer - it's a tool, and something they, their family and their neighbors have just always had. That's how i grew up. I was probably only 8 or 9 years old when I got my first gun. Picking up the gun after school and going out into the woods to shoot some squirrels or rabbits wasn't given a second thought.

There's a smaller, more radical group though that are scared to death though. They are scared of Muslims, Mexicans, the government, roving gangs of murderers, their neighbors, their family... having a gun gives them a false sense of security and the courage to leave their bunkers.

It's sad to see that America is becoming a nation of pussies who are afraid of everything. The threat is so over-hyped that wackos arm up and become the very thing they are afraid of.

They're not afraid of anything on your list.

They are afraid of government's mismanagement of all of those issues. They are terrified that eventually, opposition to the government will result in them becoming legal targets for tyranny and the guns of government. Some of them are even betting that our Keynesian tendencies in governmental fiscal policy will create a crash and social unrest, looting, and mob murder.

Too many people standing around with nothing to do.

Not where I live. Everyone is armed and working hard every day.

They are afraid that the government will not stop demanding more of their "free" labor in order to buy the votes of a large part of the list.

;)

Over there it's not like that. You should get out more.

The fact that people think they need to be armed at all times shows they live their lives in fear.

If you're not in fear at all times why would need to be armed at all times?

I share my yard with more than one cat easily clearing 150lbs and emergency services are an hour away.

I don't carry a weapon because I live my life in fear, I carry one so that I don't have to.
