Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

First is Whedon. Joss Whedon and I would cry if he wasted his time on a giant monster film. Mostly because one of two things would happen. He'd either make a standard monster flick that anybody but the bastards who did Godzilla '98 could do. Seriously kaiju films basically write themselves. Hello, I'm a big monster who arrived from space/the center of the Earth/Radiation. If you do a period piece like King Kong I was on an island nobody had bothered to visit before. I'm here to stomp your shit so get ready. Or he'd do what he does best and bother with the humans and I love Joss but he basically puts out similar stuff when it comes to the dialogue. And that Buffyesque crap flies with Buffy, and the Avengers and most of the time with AoS. Though I'll be the first person to call out that Nick Fury and Coulson wise cracking at the end of season 1 was bullshit. Spiderman can get away with that not only because it's part of his strategy but also because he's superhuman and is generaly on par or more powerful than his opponent. Coulson and Fury were terribly out matched to the point that the only appropriate response would have been. "Oh fuck, oh fuck, oh fuck."

And I'm a huge kaiju fan, I think I've seen the vast majority of them including the obscure crap that I can't even remember the names of. And shit I wish I could forget. King Kong Escapes I think is the title. The Japanese build a mechanical King Kong to like mine or some shit. The kind of crazy crap where you look at it and go. . .hmmmm if you wanted to mine there are easier ways but. . .why are you even fighting Kong? You could have skipped steps 1-3 that put you into conflict and gone straght to step 4 and the world would have thanked you. Or King Kong vs Godzilla which has three different versions and was originally Godzilla vs Frankenstien. Which despite the size issues at least explains why King Kong has lightning powers in that flick.

Honestly I just want Pacific Rim v Godzilla.

Yeah, always have a issue with that name. MechaniKong is the name of the kikaiju.

Oh. It's been years and years since I watched that movie. I just know it exists. I kinda miss the 90's Godzilla films. I mean I enjoyed the new movie but I miss the vs movies where Godzilla wasn't so much the good guy from the 70's and 80's he was just pissed some other monster had the balls to come to his house and try to kill his humans. Especially Space Godzilla.

Shit Rosario Dawson didn't get the memo about becoming less attractive with age, I swear she's hotter every time I see her. Fuck fighting crime I'll conquer the fucking world if she'll give me a shot.

the best thing larry clark ever did was put her in kids so she could be cute and talk about blowjobs and then become famous and shit.

I had no idea she'd be in the game this long after that flick. It's been over twenty years. She's been in a few clunkers, but she's kept her A-list flow tight, solid and steady. Her being Night Nurse in the MCU — she's gonna be in the other connecting Netflix series and might also be in the Doctor Strange flick — is a coup de grace.

Twenty years? Actually I guess that isn't wrong. I mean Sin City is 10 years old at this point.

I haven't seen it either and I'm starting to wonder why it isn't on tv yet. In fairness I wasn't the biggest fan of the first one. Never has there been a movie that I was equally enjoying and wondering why the fuck it wasn't over before. But dear God by the final chapter of that I was telling my friends if this isn't the end just tell me how it ends I'm going home. This shit needs to stop.

I'm kind of a two hour man when it comes to movies. I would prefer 90 minutes but once you pass the two hour mark you better have a damn good reason why I'm still playing along.

Report: Marvel Taps Ava DuVernay To Direct Black Panther

EXCLUSIVE: Following months of rumour and speculation, MCU Exchange is now able to exclusively report (thanks to our sources) that Ava DuVernay (Selma) has been hired by Marvel Studios to direct the upcoming Black Panther film. The Wrap first reported back in May that DuVernay was being courted by Marvel Studios for one of their upcoming "diverse" properties, meaning either Captain Marvel or Black Panther, with most assuming it was the latter. Then last month, our friends over at We Are Wakanda reported that DuVernay was currently in talks with Marvel for Black Panther and that indeed the gig was hers if she wanted it. It now appears that Duvernay has agreed to bring her unique vision to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As we reported via We Are Wakanda, part of the desire to hire DuVernay this early in the process (more than three years before Black Panther's release date of July 6, 2018) is to have her on the set of Captain America: Civil War, which will feature the first appearance of both Black Panther and his home country of Wakanda. The only hint of possible Wakanda scenes filmed so far was a casting call sheet that made it's way online a few weeks back, which sought African/African-American's to serve as laboratory scientists extras. However the latest set photo from Civil War shows a building labeled Institute For Infectious Diseases (which, as we detail, is most likely set in Uganda or the previously established location of Nigeria), and so these extras are probably a part of the scenes filming there. Given the advanced technology of Wakanda, it is most likely that most if not all of the scenes set there will be filmed on green screen (in the same way scenes for Asgard are shot), so we may not be treated to any set photos of Ava DuVernay. If we're lucky though, Marvel will make the official announcement soon and the social media savvy DuVernay may share a selfie or two with her new star Chadwick Boseman, who has yet to be spotted on set.

There's been no word on the screenplay status since it was revealed a few years ago that documentary filmmaker Mark Bailey had been hired to pen a draft of the script, and we've heard that Marvel is still trying to lock down a screenwriter for the newest version. Given DuVerynay's busy schedule and her own admitted lack of knowledge around superheroes it's likely she won't be principally involved in the screenwriting process, but Marvel's obvious confidence in her vision for the film should hopefully help mean we hear more news on the screenwriting front soon. In the meantime, stay tuned to MCU Exchange for the latest in MCU news, and check back in with us this week as we feature a number of articles that go in depth about the wonderful news that is Ava DuVernay joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Sweet news. I was hoping she'd pick it up. :D

We still got a 3-year lil' while before Black Panther hits the screen, so it's gonna be interesting to see how DuVernay's vision mixes with the MCU. It's already on Avengers-tier hype, so hopefully she does her comic book homework and gives us a vibranium-certified banger. All of Phase 3 with the television/Netflix properties and Spidey's re-integration will be well into the paint at that point, gearing up for the '18 & '19 two-part Infinity War releases.

ADDENDUM: This is currently being discussed online as still being a rumor based on unconfirmed sources by the above. There's no official yay or nay on it. Will update when more news comes by!

Chiwetel Ejiofor To Play Baron Mordo In Doctor Strange

Andrew Steinbeiser - 06/11/2015

Actor Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave) is reportedly set to play Baron Mordo in Marvel Studios' Doctor Strange film.

As Doctor Strange's main villain from the Marvel Comics, Mordo has constantly plagued the Sorcerer Supreme throughout the years. However, these same reports also say that Mordo may not be an outright villain in the Benedict Cumberbatch-starring film. Rather, his big-screen rendition will reportedly be a blend of several other characters from Doctor Strange's publishing history.

The role has yet to be officially confirmed from Marvel Studios however, so stay tuned to ComicBook.com for further updates on Ejiofor, Mordo, and Doctor Strange.

Doctor Strange opens on November 4, 2016.

First Reactions To Marvel's Ant-Man; 2 Post-Credits Scenes Confirmed

Jay Jayson- 06/26/20154

On Thursday night, Marvel held its first press screening of Ant-Man. The studio felt so confident in their product that they told those in attendance that they were allowed to tweet their initial reactions.

The general consensus so far is that Ant-Man is good but not great. Critics praised the film's sense of fun and overall humor. Ocean's Eleven seems to be the film most people are comparing it to, but that's mainly because Ant-Man is a heist film. Michael Pena is garnering the most attention for delivering a standout comedic performance.

Ant-Man is the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to reference Spider-Man!

Oh, and make sure you stick around for the credits! Ant-Man has both mid and post-credits scenes. So far, nobody has divulged any real details, but the responses to them have been enthusiastic.

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Marvel's Ant-Man hits theaters July 17, 2015.

Click the link to read the tweets. Sounds about on par from my impressions of the trailers. I just might make this a Thursday midnight show.

yeah, i'm still not exactly psyched for antman, because who the fuck cares about antman?

I do. He's been an integral part of the Avengers for years. It wasn't until the recent batch of movies came around and Marvel Disney tried their best to bury anybody who wasn't on the current team.

i always preferred the x-men.

the cosmic shit like silver surfer.

and the sub mariner.

i refuse to defend that last one beyond saying that i always liked how he was kind of a dick.

I'm more a Spiderman fan, I don't have anything against the X-Men. I like the Avengers at least in the comics and some of the cartoons. They can be positively massive, just like the Justice League so if you get bored of this group of them they have the option to swap out members.

that's kinda why i didn't like the avengers as a kid. also, why the x-men got annoying in the 90's. shit just got too damned crowded.

Not that most of us had any doubts but Agent Carter Season 2 is a go.

Dear God watching Marvel knock this shit out of the park is a wonder to behold. If you'd told me there would be a time when people were honestly looking forward to seeing a movie about Thor ten years ago I would have told you that it would happen. Right between adult men watching My Little Pony, a black president, gay marriage becoming legal in all fifty states, hot dog pizza, Iranian Generals leading Iraqi troops and flying pigs.

Today I'm here to make it clear that I am very dissapointed that Wilbur and Babe have not gotten their pilot's licenses yet and thus are not helping drop bombs on ISIS. We should probably just get to work on that super soldier serum since clearly ISIS is about to ally with Cobra, the Decepticons and HYDRA.

Happy 4th of July because everybody loves candy.

We might be in a bit of trouble gents. Fortunately I thought a little ahead and summoned the most powerful warrior in the 9 realms.
