I find it interesting that reports I am now hearing is that he ran because of a warrant for not paying child support. As we know child support is an example of The State forceably extracting resources from one person to give to another. Again I ask, is this really a story about race OR is it about The State depriving a man of life, liberty and property without due process of law?

I have been seeing this a lot lately, citizens don't seem to notice this rapid erosion of our basic constitutional rights.

I have written on numerous occasions that throwing a man (or woman) in jail for not paying child support is nothing more than the re-establishment of 'debtors prison.' Wasn't that one of the many reasons the colonies went into revolution? And how is having the debtor in jail going to get the money to the children? All rather pointless and counter-productive on top of the constitutional issues.

I don't know about you, but anytime I have to deal with a cop, I am 100% "Yes Sir, No Sir, Who Sir, Me Sir"

Why? Because they carry guns and I would prefer they not shoot me.

EVERY SINGLE ONE of these "unarmed victims" has been yelling at, pushing, threatening or in a scuffle with the cop who shoots them.

To that degree...these cases all answer themselves.

As a matter of fact when the officer opened fire HE became the greater threat to public safety. According to the reports I've heard the officer fired 8 rounds, of those 5 allegedly hit Scott. That left three to travel down the street into whatever stopped them. Thankfully that wasn't another citizen.

At the beginning of the video, Scott is the aggressor, grabbing at the officer's Taser.

Police officers are trained to go from green to yellow to red response conditioning....red being draw your weapon and neutralize the threat.

Once a cop goes into red, whether you then turn and run away or not is cold comfort if you wind up dead.

Scott was a felon by the time he fled. Prolly hadda warrant for his arrest. If so Scott was a felon fleeing arrest. Prolly enough to shoot his ass.

I participated in such an arrest. A woman called 911 to report her brother and his arrest warrant for child support. A deputy and I went to the house. The man confirmed his identity and cooperated with his arrest. His sister, who called 911, attacked the deputy. I took custody of the prisoner and took him to the sheriffs car. The deputy removed the sister off his back, and she fled, calling 911 when she was far away. She said the deputy beat her up. He didn't. The liberals at the sheriffs office went bat shit nutso about the police brutality. I made a report supporting the deputy and they went DEFCON 5 Nutty. I told internal affairs I'd fuck them with a nasty nigger dick if they even frowned at the deputy.

Enforced child support (and welfare as back up) is simply a tool to ensure there are more single mothers, the ideal consumers in today's western world. But that's another topic.

Not in South Carolina. She could sue the state for wrongful death, but there are dollar limits on what she could win. Most likely she'll get a settlement from the State.

With a deceased father, the mother could be eligible for other things depending on her income.

Unless some overwhelming mitigating circumstances are proven at trial, this cop needs the death penalty. His act was a pure execution, based on what we currently know, and he deserves to be executed in kind.

It's a tricky situation.

There is a certain demographic here in the USA that takes great pains to avoid paying child support (see: Smoot and/or Queerbait). Not everyone has the Ishmael-esque foresight to smother unwanted children in their cribs and/or conveniently "forget" (*wink*nudge*) to bring their unwanted child's helmet to the motocross track.

Absolutely right. US police are revenue collectors. It's completely bullshit. And as ish pointed out, it's debtors prison. But the single mom is the ideal consumer, I mean citizen, in America so we do everything we can to make it easy to have a child out of wedlock without facing financial repurcussions.

They drive that car through a legal loop-hole.

The court orders the child support payment, the non-custodial parent doesn't pay, the court issues a bench warrant for contempt. Still debtors prison no matter how you swerve through the loop-hole.
