Well just so you know. I've known you online here for many years and I don't dislike you dolf.

I think you take this online association a little to seriously when you make comments like that.

Happy Valentines Day.
I dislike you. I've seen enough of your personality to sincerely believe that the world is a worse place for having you in it. no amount of fluff and sucking up will change that opinion. you've been given more chances than any one person deserves and you have always, and will always, show yourself to be toxic excrement.

thank you for posting this. in all the things i've read floating around on the internet, you are the first one to post quotes out of the book that back up the argument for domestic abuse. having not read the book, i did not understand why people were stating it was abusive. i now see why.

I second this 100%. Most illuminating, and disturbing.

what's even more disturbing is how first the books and now the film are being heavily promoted by the media and sucked up insatiably by the public. demands for tickets for the film are through the roof here.

I think the problem is the author knew nothing of the intellectual and almost spiritual relationship that exists in a true Dom/Sub.
They took the sensational aspects of it and played up the " All women like it rough" myth and people ate it up.

Or maybe i'm just peaking on these shrooms

and possibly the only good thing the book covered, the acceptance that period sex should be neither dirty nor shameful, was cut from the film anyway! yes, you can show rape dressed up as bdsm, but menstruation is a step too far.

He tricked me! The ring came in today and now it's all sorts of freaking official.

she started writing twilight fanfic, so... that too.

The continuity announcer on Dave (a digital UK channel largely devoted to BBC repeats) just had a beautifully controlled meltdown, considering what brings viewers to his channel and therefore ultimately pays his salary:

"Cars, cars, cars, bad hair, cars, cars, cardigans, cars, cars, terrible hair, cars, cars, grumbling, cars, cars, cars, moan moan moan, cars, mid-life-crisis averted by pointless adventure, cars, cars cars. It's Top Gear."

I really hope he gets a promotion. It was gorgeous.
I would have rolled on the floor laughing if I heard that.
My hair dryer was killed by this countries weird electricity, but Thumper (being a knight in shining armor) just ran out to get me one.

He is the bestest.
He's a keeper. I'm glad you are having fun and getting time together.
What the fuck are you two twats doing posting on Lit?
Sean needs a little recoil time, give the guy a break.
He looks like a charmer. Cats have great personalities.
He was quite a little scaredy cat. Once he decided you were OK, then he's climb on you and demand attention, until you petted him wrong, then he's hiss and possibly bite. Luckily he was tiny and had no teeth by the end... I miss the little shit.
Death comes in three. I wish this week hadn't happened. So many shattered lives.
:rose:
I am a bit tipsy and in a freaking castle!!!
Get some pictures, I wnat to live in a castle.
the whole thing starts with her walking away and him stalking her into submission. pitching it as romance is wrong.
From what I've heard (which means what Bluey has heard because rock 'n roll guys don't really talk about "sex books") it seems like the author did NO research and just probably read some half page stories in porn mags and then wrote a book. It seems completely irresponsible to me.

But, that's ICKY!

What I don't understand is why Stephanie Meyer's publishers didn't sue the shit out of her.

they're too busy laughing giddily as they swim through the mountains of cash that stupid jackasses have willingly given them for making them stupider and just a bit less human.

They did, that's when she changed the names in the story and now Meyer gets a cut of her royalties too.

The fact is there is no eroticism in abuse of any kind...

...to suggest that there is in any way is only to cheapen eroticism and exalt abuse.

You want to play that abusive game behind your bedroom door with another consenting adult?

Fine, keep it there.

But don't come out in public with your lust for abuse and celebrate it as if it's anything else...

...because the more you do, the more abuse spreads, and the more abuse spreads, the more people are abused.

And there is never any just reason for that.

Did you see Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe take on it (about 5 minutes in, here)? Hilarious, as usual:

'Erotic beat-em-up 50 Shades of Grey'
'Cinemas preparing to fling their hot red doors wide open'
'one of the finest works of cliterature of our age'
Christian Grey is 'a sort of Lego Colin Firth who initially seems like any other besuited kisshat'
'Grey has a secret Red Room, filled with objects you can either smack someone with, or push up your arse. Which describes absolutely any room, if you think about it'.

And so on and so forth. Fine stuff.

Thanks for your insight, Mahatma. You should start a thread in the BDSM forum. They'd love to know how they've all been wasting their lives.

Man... I started watching a baskeball game and must have nodded off. I woke up and it's nearly the end of the game and two different teams are playing.
