At least 11 Dead in Paris

That fundies from other religions also can be violence? Think of the crusades if nothing else.

Europe, emerging from the dark ages, encountering the remains of the Christian Roman Empire in Byzantium and reacting out of a sense of weakness and shame and flexing its new-found economic muscle in order to loot the wealthier East. Towards the end, most of the Crusades were aimed at the Orthodox Church and from the very beginning the initial victims were Christian "heresies" and Jews.

Because the current assumption is that Islamic militants were behind the attack in response to some cartoons of a religious nature?

Noor, honey, they said so...

Like 9-11, they hit their target once before.

Where's the boarding announcements for all of the Americans rushing to France to find a Muslim to protect?

;)

Human Shields.

LOL....and so it continues.

Love watching all the PC fuckers make up excuses all day long....

But I notice most of the not totally bat shit Islam ass kissers won't even touch the thread LOL

the tv reports are saying that two of the cartoonists (one of them responsible for the mohammed cartoon) were on round the clock one-to-one protection. *shakes head*

two things:

as yet (that i've heard) no group has taken responsibility - does that say i think it isn't down to some muslim extremists? no. i'm keeping an open mind.

secondly, if another group wanted to fire things up in no uncertain terms, to direct further hate/action against all muslims by concentrating the idea in the non-muslim population that where there's trouble it's due to the muslim religion.

whoever's responsible, it's a disgusting attack against people free to express their various views in print or by word of mouth in a non-violent manner.

I find your theory about another group wanting to fire things up and generate anti-muslim sentiments to be highly unlikely.

personally, zip, i think they are indeed terrorists linked with extremist militant muslim movements. but until the group responsible announce their culpability, the unlikely is still a possibility.

edit: you just made me realise i left off the end of my sentence.
any outside faction with an interest in polarising positions, for whatever purpose, could manufacture this horrific event. it's not an unknown concept.

Jesus H. Christ...

No Muslims can be harmed in the reporting of this story.

This is what open-minded diversity leads to, she was quicker to jump on less-than-human then she is actual less-than-human Islamic victims...

14.53 The terrorists shouted that they were from al Qaeda in Yemen before they launched the brutal attack on Charlie Hebdo in Paris, according to one witness, writes the Telegraph's Holly Watt.

Then again, everyone said, that Brown was yelling: Mains vers le haut. Ne tirez pas!

So it probably wasn't Islam...

Bristol Palin on vacation.

I am going to stick my neck out and invite hate mail but I feel the need to speak up on this topic. I abhor what was done in France. I abhor the beheadings and 9/11. Muslim fundamentalists intent on destroying western society need to be stopped. So do extremists of any type bent on destruction and death as a way to make their point. That being said, the vast majority of Muslims in this world are peace loving people. Here are a few facts about Muslims: they make up almost 25% of the world's population; over 60% of Muslims live in Asia and South Asia; only 20% of Muslims live in Arab countries; according to the FBI, in the US Muslims only accounted for 6% of terrorist attacks between 1980 and 2005 (although deaths because of 9-11 were significantly higher). In the grand scheme of recent world history it may be wise to consider the following before condemning any group as a whole.

• Who exterminated 6 million Jews, Catholics and other dissidents during WWII?
• Who killed 200,000 Hutus in Burundi and 800,000 Tutsis in Rwanda?
• Who killed 20 million Aborigines in Australia?
• Who dropped the nuclear bombs which killed 166,000 civilians in Hiroshima and 80,000 in Nagasaki?
• Who killed more than 100 million Indians in North America?
• Who killed more than 50 million Indians in South America?
• Who took 180 million African people as slaves and when 88% of them died, threw them into the Atlantic Ocean?

I could go on and on but you get the point. Okay, now you can let the hate mail fly. Most of it, I am sure, will be from the same creeps that want to see a picture of my (nonexistent) boobs or light my fire with their overstated sex organs.

I read the earlier news, then went back to sleep ;)

Yes, I saw that. Why on earth did this office not have safe rooms, weapons and armed guards? or did they?

No, they have cultures that employ violence to gain control and use religion as a self-justification.

It is political. It is economic. It is about gaining power.

Confused, as ever.....time to break out all and any political talking points!

Woof!

"France’s stand against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) and its bans on wearing the full-face veil in public and the headscarf in state schools have made it a prime target for Islamist terrorists."

Don't other countries also have this ban? Why is this prime target material? Besides there have been Islamic terrorist attacks in Paris since the 70's and 80's, how long has the ban been in place and given the time period why is Paris still standing at all?

Consensus of thinking.

I do not know how best to put it, I'm not Byron, but it would have been politically incorrect, even as non-PC was their MO. They could not offend their audience by behaving as that that their audience would condemn. This is what zero-tolerance mentalities garner you. Gun free. Islamophobia free. Judgement free. It is why some of these posters are having such a difficult time with the issue. They know that they cannot condone the actions, but that they must celebrate the religion. So, like the person who posted just before you, they engage in a false equivalency; past cultures equal current religions.

France is the country that launched the Crusades.

France is also weak. Their enemies now comprise 8% of their population and wish to gradually subjugate it and the rest of the West because they are basically agrarian mercantilists and see expansion, not investment and Capital accumulation, as the key the key to wealth and power.

A car also exploded outside a Paris synagogue, I hope the killings were not a signal for other events.

Does it have to be? Is killing Jews ok in france as long as it doesn't lead to other attacks?
