I'm also going to point out that if a girl wants to smile at me, she's going to smile at me. It isn't necessarily a sign that she's attracted, but taken in conjunction with other cues it can serve as a likely predictor. If a girl doesn't make eye contact, doesn't smile, she may not be in the position to do so. Attempting to initiate may prove unfeasible, or instead may generate hostility. Too many dogs just lunge on the first scent that happens by; they don't think about which ones present the most promising leads.

True.

Throughout my life, I've done nothing more than a smile and a nod. A few times it's gotten me someplace further. But upon self-reflection, I find it's less to do with curbing my maleness (which gets a lil' raunchy in the right company) and more to do with just wanting that same space of non-intrusion. I tend not to want strangers stepping into my zone, so I try to extend that same courtesy to others.

Also, in this city, there's a slightly centric social set that makes people do things differently than they would elsewhere. People overtly interact with you, even unconsciously. When I went out to L.A. some years ago, I went to a bar to chill out for a bit and nobody said shit to me. Even the bartender was distant. Here in NYC, you are guaranteed to get into a convo with someone, no matter where you go or who you are. This can be both positive and negative.

tonight i told the kids that in their lifetimes, they would see the end of the usage of fossil fuels. they will not inherit the cars we are driving today, because to use them is to end the human race. the boy suggested we figure out how to make energy from watermelons and the girl has decided to get a horse. humanity, we are ready.

this will ship with my next order of red clover and stinging nettle. thank you for the recs. the other book is a slow read for me, because i think too much during it. i can finish a good, long, fiction book in hours flat. books that make me actually think take a long time. i need to read, reread and process each paragraph.
