It is occasionally acknowledged the the U.S. Constitution was based on the rules of the Iroquois Confederacy. The dominant group was white, obviously. The first US census was in 1790, and about 80% of the population was white, at that time.

Of those who were allowed to take part. In 1850, every member of the household - including women, children and slaves - were attempted to be counted. Before that, and I quote "census records had only recorded the name of the head of the household and tabulated the other household members within given age groups".
It was only in 1860 that Natives were 'allowed' to be counted, but only those who renounced their tribal laws. The approximate number is 40 000. I wonder the actual number would be.
Truth is, census gives, at best, an approximate glimpse into a particular region's demographics. Also, historically, many census did not count or truly undercounted peoples that weren't exactly considered to be a 'person' in the eyes of the law of the time, and minorities were often ignored. These numbers don't give any real insight, except maybe the ruling class' view of their country.
Personally, I believe census is dated and a load of crock - who cares? It tells us nothing.

FIREBREEZE is wrong again. The only conspiracies associated with the census were those that inflated population and races. In 1870, for example, most of the veterans of the CSA armies were disenfranchised so many of them appeared on the census as BLACK, because blacks could vote. And anyone who questioned the election results could make a visit to the census bureau and see the original lists. Indians couldn't vote, either, and many became white or black for the census.
The other thing is, in afflicted areas the lists were fulla errors, errors that puzzle genealogists today. Extra kids, wrong names, misspelled names, multiple listings, etc.

You will probably never be a minority, but white children are already a minority, among their peers.
I see no reason to doubt the dominant group was white in 1790, regardless whether that group represented 80% of the population or something less than that.
As for the census, try getting the federal government to give it up.
