Using three letters is fine, but if you are a purist about it (have you ever met ElfinOdalisque?), you could go with "uey," a slang term for a U-turn.

(you can solve the 5 character minimum with an ellipsis or a comment. Txtspk? Nothing new. Back in the 60s there was a system of "speedwriting" as an alternative to traditional syllabic shorthand. The company offering training advertised:

you get better with practice. It is, of course, similar to some very ancient written forms. Hebrew, among others, leaves out the vowels, as does 'speedwriting.'

I took shorthand in high school. Barely passed. But it wasn't speedwriting. Pitman shorthand - It was like learning to write a completely new language. I hated it.
