Guilty Of Second-Degree Murder In Death Of Renisha McBride

Seems like the jury took more time to consider the answer than he took to assess his immediate danger the night of the crime.

I'm so anti-gun but get that lots aren't, but if you're going to arm yourself you need to use your brain first.

"A gun is a tool, like any other tool only as good or bad as the man who uses it."
That's a quote from the movie Shane but it's true.

The idiot who shot that woman should have got murder 1.

Firearms to me are like condoms. I'd rather have one and not need it than need one and not have it.

I carry a .45 most of the time, have a Marlin 336 at the ready at home. Lever action short barrel bitches.

This twit in Detroit had one of those cheap short barrel pistol grip shotguns most wanna be rambos have.

It's a crazy world out there dolf. You should probably stay at home on the internet and live your life there. It's safer.

I've managed to walk around my country, your country, several places in Europe without weeing my pants at my lack of firepower.

but then, my balls are considerably larger than yours.

I state that people who carry guns are pussies who are scared.

The responses are generally, "I'm not scared, I just need it for protection!"

ahahahahaha

Scared AND stupid.

Under the protection of a lot of people that were armed and looking out for your best interest.

Being a single woman living alone I would hope you have something to protect yourself in case someone breaks in and want's to play with your nutsack against your will.

nope, not under the protection of a lot of people who were armed.

and, weirdly, i'm not constantly peeing my pants over imaginary burglars either.

I don't carry, but I don't criticize those who do.

Well burglars aren't imaginary and you'd be surprised at how many people carry a firearm or something to protect themselves.

I hope you're never in a position to need something like that.

I hope I am not either.

You should take a self defense class. I think it would be a good idea to know how to at least physically fend off an attacker or villian.

you only assume i'm not equip to defend myself because you're a douchebag.

perhaps you should take self defence.

Sounds like he shot himself in the foot when he decided to take the stand (more than likely against the advice of counsel) and open himself up to cross examination. Based on what I've read, I think the jury got it right, though I too am somewhat puzzled by a conviction for second degree murder and manslaughter, but then again I don't know anything about Michigan homicide law. A tragedy indeed, more so because it could have been avoided.

As a woman..I'm not terrified of burglars breaking into my home... mainly because I have a home secuirty system, loud noises and lots of neighbours

I dont have a gun in my home.. and if I did, I'd be 12 times as likely to be killed by the very gun I own and 5 times as likely to be killed with my own gun if attacked on the street with it

assaults and home attacks dont begin with the guy running down the street at you proclaiming his intent..it's up close and personal.. and your best defense is good old hand to hand training

and I have extensive

so yeah, not worried

pretty much this.

serious, random attacks and assaults are rare as hens teeth around here. statistically, as a woman, my biggest danger comes from spouses & ex spouses. by a long, long way.

The majority of them are old, weak and scared: Vetty, Miles, AJ, Amicus, Ishmael. All of them have been conditioned to fear and hate anything 'different' by the conservative media.

Their guns embiggen their spine and make them feel all manly again. Nothing could be further from the truth, of course, but they enjoy the illusion.

You cant be right, cuz every liberal I know of skeedaddles if they think a fights gonna breakout.

The only reason to be armed is because you are afraid someone is going to hurt you. That's a pussified way to live life.

Sometimes a man needs to pull on the big boy pants and be a man.

I hunt deer and squirrel and sitch...

You were, are and probably will remain a hateful idiot.

I do believe that people feel socially and economically under siege. They see the violence and hate of the urban youth culture and how it is condoned and coddled and the culture of violence that has erupted in our cities and are somewhat fearful of being victimized. I believe that does mitigate and I would have been hard-pressed to go with premeditation. It was a poor reaction to the situation, but one that cannot go unpunished. We also need to get serious about changing the mindset of the kids creating the atmosphere of fear.

I think there's a bit of violence and a lot of fear. most people go their whole lives without suffering from these random acts of violence. and the people who do suffer are usually in specific, bad areas.
the bad events get wallpapered, tv, radio, newspapers. it's easy to think that every granny who steps out on the street pas 5pm is about to get raped, but that just isn't the case.

Agreed...

I think this guy resided in a bad area.

I think he assumed that, on the other side of the door, there was some big, scary black dude with a record as long as your arm, and that he's teach the SOB a lesson and get a pat on the back for it.

I get the impression that the culture doesn't reflect the law... there's a lot of lynch mob flavoured comments made about crimes. I see it here. americans more than other nationalities here, whipping each other up into a frenzy of who would do the worst if they got their hands on the perp. too much emotion and not enough common sense.

y'all are only two steps from cowboys when it comes to crime. yeehaw!

...that sounded terribly judgy.

He probably did, Mr. Deflection. :nods:
Does that justify him shooting through the door?
Hmmmm?

I think when he said, ''It was a poor reaction to the situation, but one that cannot go unpunished'' he ruled out it being justifiable. he's more making the case for it being understandable.

You do not see the daily lather that the race-industry and its politicians purposely work the black community up into.

Now they are trying to add the Hispanic community to the anger management crowd.

In hate, they gain power. If you try to do something, anything abut the violence they jump in with protective cries of racism. That aspect of the problem probably doesn't filter into your daily news cycle, but it does ours and is reflected in the music and crimes of the urban youth.
