Now that I am no longer in the working world, I would like to get a septum piercing. Sir is OK with me wearing a platinum or silver nose ring. I want to do it, but for a 40 year old woman, it would stand out more than on a young woman. I have seen lots of women (and some men) with them downtown, particularly in the leather bars, but here it my comfortable little suburb, it would draw lots of attention.

What I'm getting at, is how do people react to a nose ring outside of the community?

Thanks!

Kim, I can't answer your question, but want to say that titanium is a much better choice of material. Your body is less likely to react to it.

been there

I was 18 at the time and didnt give a shit about the extra attention but trust me, there was. What helped was being able to unscrew both balls that way i could turn it up to hide inside in my nostrils when needed.

Thanks for the replies. One reason I want a ring exactly so I can't just turn it up and hide it. I also feel that the ring makes more of a statement about me being owned. Sir also wants me to wear a ring, I showed him pictures and he picked out a size and gauge that he likes. I have done all of my research and I'm not the least bit concerned about the physical act of getting the piercing. Now I just need to get up the courage to go through with it. Sir gave me until the end of this month to do it, if I don't do it by then I have to wait another year to ask his permission again. Thanks!

I know nobody cares if I get a nose ring or not, but this is like my digital journal so forgive me for wasting bandwidth, but it is cathartic to me. I looked at an invitation that we received for a memorial service next week, and I thought about me wearing a nose ring there, and how inappropriate and disrespectful it would be. If I can't wear it all the time, I probably shouldn't wear it at all. Thanks

Lol, 51 when I got my pa. Reaction varies.

Forgive my naivete, what's a PA?

ETA: Never mind, I looked at your profile and figured it out. I have a pierced nipples, navel and clit hood, but nobody sees that the first time they meet me, well almost nobody. let me rephrase that, none of the PTO ladies know that I have piercings and a couple of tattoos, but a nose ring is "in your face" so to speak :D.

It's also used to produce con rods for the Porsche GT3 engine, but I wouldn't put one through my septum...

I'm 41 and I have a nose piercing (nostril), I wear a captive hoop ring in it. I've had is for a few years, 5-6 maybe. I do the "Band Mom" thing and volunteer at my kids schools. Both High school and grade schools. It's part of me and who I am. I've never had anyone say anything to my face. My Mom expressed her disdain when I had it done, about having metal in my face and I told her it added sparkle. So own it and rock it!

i agree with this. I'm 67, live in rednecklandia, and wear my piercings without apology or issue. We're really not all that compelling in our interest to others, it turns out.
